Using NvHardPage then? Or is there another way to disable directx 8 and 9. I see some disable buttons but i think they're for the spiffy graphics (in dxdiag).

use RivaTuner (get it form Guru3d.com), as i know it can disable pixel shaders . for sure! I'm not familiar with NvHardPage

Hi

Can anyone explain how to do the tweaking in an easear way i downloaded the program but couldn´t find the things that were mentioned or maybee a link to the original thread mentioned.

Yeah I have that problem also...which version of nvHardPage are you guys talking about? 1.0 or 2.0?

HankSSSi you are the man!!!! This is what I did if anyone esle is goin to try this

1. Download nvHardPage at www.guru3d.com (Make sure its ver. 3.0)

2. Click on the DirectX tab and scroll down to you see Shader/Pixel set both to 1.1

3. Use nvhpdc Driver cleaner utility , scan for drivers, delete drivers (press only once do not delete the drivers that remain after intitial deletion)

4. Download (At Guru3d.com) Detonator drivers ver. 81.85

5. Goto C:/User/Application Data/My Games/Sid Meier's Civ 4/Cache...delete
"Delete only Cache Folder"

6. Reboot

7. Install New drivers 81.85..reboot

8. Enjoy!

Worked great for me thanks to HankSSi!!!!

I too have this card and other then the choppiness the problem that suddenly appeared is that the mouse cursor is constantly flashing now. This suddenly happened over night and I have tried just about everything I can think of to fix this. PLEASE HELP!

My nvHardPage is version 2.0 and its ok. All the mentionewd options are there. And the game really got some performance boost with those settings.

I looking for a new card. That one is almost crap by now.

Hardware might not be the issue, simply the easy way out. Just wait until after the patch before buying a new card. But if you seriously cannot wait, and wont mind spending money and seeing if it'll work, check out NewEgg.com. They usually have good deals and fast shipping.

Just curious, how long ago did people get their FX5200? I got mine between 2-2 1/2 years ago when I built my machine. I chose the cheapest card ($69 w/ no rebate) w/ most memory, and I've had some good experience with the brand. But, 2 yrs is a long time in the computer industry. I didnt know much about cards back then, and I still dont now, other than the fact that AGP is slowing dying out.

I bought mine from Newegg about 1 1/2 years ago been the best card I ever bought for the money. I am pretty stubborn on Nvidia, wont buy anything else.

Oh and dont go out and buy a new card to fix it..juest use the NvHardPage if possible, im sure the patch will be out soon.

i have tried this nvhardpage thing and it works for me, although the graphics look a bit duller now, at least i can scroll around the map and zoom in and out without suffering a 3-second delay every time i move the mouse around... all firaxis need to now is sort that patch out so that we won't need any 3rd party tweaks and tools to fix this game...
