Armageddon Counter Problems?

I'm not sure if anything's wrong, but maybe someone can help me. I've played two games with the Elohim now, and in both cases, their Hallowing ritual seems to have no effect whatsoever on the AC. I've even reloaded saved games with one turn left to finish the ritual (the 3rd or 4th time that game), just to see what would happen if I did not finish it--and the results are always the same.

On a different note, the spell description says that Sanctify will lower the AC slighty--but I've never observed it happen. Anything I should know about?

The AC that you see is a %

I don't know the actual numbers (these are all made up for example only)

lets say standard map size it takes 500 AC points to max out. so at 250 yo will see 50 on the counter because you are 50% of the way to 500

Large map takes like 700 points to max so when you see 50 you are at 350.

That ritual I believe reduces AC by a set amount. So lets say ... i have no clue.... -10 points.

-10 points out of 500 is .2% so you would may have to use it 5 times to see a single point drop.

THEN it depends on how far int each % you are before you see it move. If you are almost about to go up again, then it will take more casts before you can lower (but you slow it down from climbing higher). If it just went up, you might get it to drop in only 1 cast.

Again those are all made up numbers, but that is also the reason you will see events that say +5 or -3 to the AC but it seems to have no effect, because those are true modifiers not percentages.

Someone please correct me if I am mistaken

Pretty much exactly that. If you hover over the Armageddon Counter, you can see exactly what the numbers are as well.

Thanks for the explanation guys, that makes a lot of sense. Though I have one design request--would it be possible to make the Hallowing ritual more effective? (As well as the corresponding Elegy ritual, for balance). It is quite time-consuming to produce, and it would be nice to get more bang for the buck.

Nevertheless, I am loving FF--congrats to the mod team :)

Personally, I think most of the AC adjustments need to be scaled with map size.

The main point of the scaling, as I can see, is that with a bigger map, there are more civs, and more cities. Therefore, more cities to raze, or to spread AV to.

I think those sources of AC adjustments should be unchanged, but things like events, and ESPECIALLY AC adjustments from building units, should scale appropriately.

Building things like Sphener, is supposed to be a good omen for the world, hence why the AC is lowered. But in bigger worlds, the adjustment is a drop in the ocean.

Max AC (raw value that you build toward) is controlled exclusively by the number of Civilizations in the game when it is created. There is a base value (50 or so?) and then add 15 per non-Barbarian Civilization in the game and that is the max AC.

That's what I suspected--I was playing on a Huge map... so I agree with you .
