Army unit Abilities

If you give the Army unit abilities, will any of them actually be used independent of whether or not the unit has them?
Specifically I'm thinking of 'Starts Golden Age' but information on the others wouldn't hurt.

I really don´t know, the only one I´m (almost) sure about is that, if you select "transports infantry only" it only allows you to load infantry units, no cavalry, chariots or other stuff.
