i downloaded the mod that turns the borders into solid lines, and now i cant stand them.. and lo and behold, i had gone and OVERWROTE the stupid thing. if anyone can upload the file (its called territory.pcx and its in your Civilization III\Art\Terrain folder) if anyone could do this for me id be in your debt forever

Err, Killer, you might just accidently have helped someone who dowloaded Civ 3 illegaly. Think about it, if he has the game CD where the file should be, why would he need to ask about it? ;)

Yes I might, but then, is the file unpacked on the CD? If he DLed the game, why is that one file missing???? Imagine you moded a lot, and you have little free space on your HD and can`t make a big backup of civ and don´t know what a reinstall will change - what then? I don´t think he DLed it, it doesn`t sound like that.

Actually, i play with the no CD patch since I`m carrying my laptop around all the time, and don´t want to loose the CD. Ask me where it is??? Somewhere at home, but it might take an hour of searching to find it.........

But thank for pointing it out, more than 1 file and i wouldn´t have done it.....

You have a point, but then he said the downloaded a mod that only changes the looks of borders and now he needs to replace "territory.pcx" which most likely is the only file the said mod changes. To me that sounds suspicious enough. :D

I know the mod, it really doesn´t do much. And now you need to CD and need to find the file on CD. So I just did that.....

As I thought, you can`t just copy it, you need to reinstall Civ3!!! That would change all other mods you have installed - just to get rid of the one mod you didn´t like.....

How do you play without needing the CD? I have one CD and three of us in the house play it. Can be a pain just finding it (particularly if the kid had it last.)

Is it a registration thing? I haven't done that but will if I need to.

Jason Fox, there is a patch that allows playing without the CD. It is leagl to install this patch only if you own a legal copy of the game (I believe you do, but still, it had to be said). You can find it in lots of places, but i think i shouldn`t put a link to it here :(

Thanks!

And rest easy tonight, I own the game, tin and all. I'm one of those gamer newbies that never heard of Civ before I saw it in the store last November and bought it 'cause it sounded cool. I didn't know it would become an obsession of sorts.

Amazing I took the chance since the last game I bought on a whim before Civ3 was America.

I just checked my CD and I couldn't find the file on it, so I guess it can't be directly installed from the disk without doing a re-install (which might lose other mods)

I know this doesn't prove that has got the CD, but I just thought I'd mention it...

Somebody call the Feds!!

Too bad it isn't also illegal to sell beta games for $50 a pop! :D

I own a legal copy of Civ 3 and many other games and I use CD cracks on most of them b/c it's a lot easier than haveing to change disc's everytime you wanna switch games. I get resless very easily and switch games near constantly and CD cracks make it that much easier. That's what computers were developed for, making life easier and now, I make my life easier ON a computer. :)

And as far as trying not to help people w/ illegal copies of the game, good for you! I, on the other hand, don't care and help people who want CD cracks on here get them. I have looked around on the net and haven't found a dl for a full version of Civ 3, so if someone has it, they must have better sources than me(very likely) or looked very hard, and kudos to them.

And before anyone replies telling me how evil and horrible I am, please delete all your illegal mp3's, movies, and games. :) Thank you!

i didnt download the game illegaly, i can promise you that. i bought it the same as the rest of you. i thought about just browsing on the cd and taking it off (if thats possible), but my cd is at my dads (who lives about 15 minute drive away) and im to lazy to get anyone to drive me over. if you dont believe me, thats your own concern, you guys r way to suspicious of people
