aRRRGH!(problems with sound?)

I get no marching sound when barbs are near my city or when my golden age has ended (I think some other sounds are missing but I can't remember which ones.

I have XP (let's all be honest Vista is <snip>, as Civ says, newest isn't always best) and have just down loaded the latest patch, 3.19.

are all sounds turned on in the options?
did you change the files at all?
is the game patched? to what patch version?

I have adjusted all the sound options with no luck.

I haven't touched the files.

And I have patched 3.19.

please open civilizationIV.ini in my games\beyond the sword\
and set all items with log in their name (5 of the 6 last items - not the last one) from 0 to 1 and save the file.
then start the game - try to cause some of the missing sounds - close the game and post all items in my games\beyond the sword\logs as a zip file attachment here.
please also post your dxdiag results file
