Terms of Office Poll

This is the final discussion phase for "Terms of Office". This thread is to write up the official wording for this article. Once it is complete, it will go for the final approval poll.

According to the poll, 1 calendar month is the determined term of office. This is the first part of article G from DG5:

Code:
            1. All elected positions shall have a fixed term of one
month. Each position will be granted to the candidate
receiving the largest number of votes in that election.
In the event of a tie between two or more front
runners, a runoff poll shall be opened between those
candidates only. This poll shall run for 2 days, and be
repeated as often as needed to resolve the tie.

If we wish, we could add the entire Article G into here.

I don't see any need to change the article from DG5, regardless of the government style we choose. Let's keep what works.

I agree with Ashburnham. Article G in it's entirity worked fine, except for the first sentance, which allowed some to question the integrity of one's Office. It should be changed to read -

"All Executive and Legislative positions shall have a deputy, if a Deputy can not be found to fill that position, a Leader is not liable."

Something like that. ;)

*Oh, and CT. I think YNCS's "never mind" may have been that both your links go to the same discussion. :)

I had written a post that said both CT's links went to the same place, and then I noticed her comment: "Once it is complete, it will go for the final approval poll." So I edited my post to "never mind," not, of course, realizing that the meaning was ambiguous to anyone other than me. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused.

Assuming we actually do impleament a strategic layer and tactical layer in this game, I'd change the terms of office. The strategic layer of government is there for long-term planning, so it's obvious to me that they should have, well, long terms, in order to better impleament these long-range plans. If the rest of the layers of government got a single month-long term, for example, the strategic layer should get two, preferably three. Not the most democratic way of things, I know, but strategy should be planned out without fear of election.

Due to lack of discussion, the approval poll has been posted here.
