As far as i'm aware, this is the first Oriental beast of mythology, unless you count Godzilla and various other Japanese mutant monsters like Mothra (sp?)

Yeah, we just spell it a little differently: temporarily.
On a side note, spelling mistakes don't bother me, and I don't like to correct spelling, but Samez asked about this.
