The responsibilities of a Mayor include making suggestions about the build que and land useage in and around your city. Also, attracting new settlers and getting citizen groups to establish branch offfices is important! Let everyone know how wonderfull Asphinxia and Memphis are! You could even start a thread about Memphis, like the one for Thebes , or the others for non-Asphinxian cities (which arn't nearly as good). Congrats on your appointment Toasty.

Um, I've just moved into Thebes, and I like it. Kinda dry the climate is, for my taste, but apart from that...bring the gambling, the sex and the mind altering drugs on!! (Even the Academy has itches it must attend to... )

Well, Seanoria's all well and good, but Asphinxia is the best province and Asphinxian cities are the best cities. It is not demening for Seanoria if the Mayor of Thebes thinks Thebes is better than Seanoria!! Which it is.

I would just like to congratulate Governor Almightyjosh on his success in attracting more people to our great province. Nice to see some of our oldest and mightiest cities getting the mayoral attention they deserve!

I would like to take this time to anounce my apointment as head of R&D (Research and Devlopment) by Almightyjosh for ALL of Asphinxia. Yay for me. I look forewards to working with you all to keep our glorious section (state?) the knowledge capitol of the world.

As you all know, our Province has more big science cities than any other and dedicated scientists who don't even consider being corrupt! I thoght it appropriate to appoint a head of R+D to oversee our scientific advancement, congrats Stuck_As_a_Mac!

I've been thinking about my black-tie social event. First things first, we need to invite the Mayors, Almightyjosh, and (of course) the citizens.
After that has been done, the invites should go out to the other Governors. They should give to their mayors and citizens. Finaly, invite the cabinet and Chieftess. That sound good to all of you? I'll start the thread imediatly.

Governor Almightyjosh,

Here are suggestions/requests for Elephantine:

Queue:

Tank, Tank, Tank, Research Lab, Palace (pre-build)
*assuming* war is over and Computers are finished by time research lab is needed and that the Domestic and Science departments approve a pre-build for spaceship part

Also, a worker request to road/rail the Uranium Forest just east of town, which would have a dramatic increase in production.

I had an idea for our University system that could work as a model for other, lesser provinces

Basically there is a Provincial University System. The capital houses the main campus, and other metropolises (that have universities) have Provincial University regional campuses. Anything below a metropolis has a City College, but they get accredited to a regional campus when they become a metropolis.

So for Our Fair Province:

University of Asphinxia - Thebes

Asphinxia Provincial University at Memphis
Asphinxia Provincial University at Elephantine (the fightin' Pachyderms!)

City College of Abydos

And, unfortunately, Byblos, Anyang, Callisto, and El-Amarna aren't yet part of our university system. I 'm sure it is in the plans though

The colleges should probably organize a Phoenatican Rules Football League or some such... Perhaps one of our fine citizens might want to be Provost of the University system even.

Plans are most definately in the works, each has a uni currently building, or due next!!!!!! Run this idea past Saam, I think it's a good one. The research departments and libraries could be affiliated.

From now on, the Asphinxian Weekly Times will be a regular fixture. It is not designed as independant media, but a way I can keep all of you advised about things which affect Asphinxia. Plus I can limit what I have to cram into my Governor's Report!!
