Why would I want an NVidia? I prefer the most capable cards on the market, ATI makes them. I also don't like NVidias sales tactics, dropping support on perfectly capable cards on newer games to force people to buy new cards.

Status: Playable, but no land appears visible (ie. explored but not in LoS).
Drawbacks: All land visible, Cheshire cat problem likely persistent (didn't check).

i did the fix that take2games recommended via a recording on phone support:
-remove ati graphics driver
-download catalyst driver v5.10 from ati.com
-reboot (and reset monitor resolution to 1024*768)
-install drivers
-reboot (and reset monitor resolution to 1024*768)
sucCESS!! works just fine, no cheshire cat or black land issues - now i just have to convince myself i really need to go to sleep tonight

I'll unsticky this thread now. For those of you having problems, please have a look at this thread. Its recognised that that suggested fix doesn't solve problems for Windows 2000 users, but there is a fix for them on the way.
