I just watched the Game Options Walkthough,

and I didn't see an option for "Auto Unit Cycle".

I may be in the minority, but I hate this option. You move a unit then are "teleported" to another unit immediately, possibly across the map when you haven't moved an adjacent unit yet. I like to click on the units in an area, move them while I'm thinking about the situation there, then cycle to the next unit. And with the new key bindings, it will be very easy to set up the unit cycle hot key to a very handy mouse or keyboard button.

With a good key bind, this can actually be faster (for me) than the auto cycling, as I don't have to sit and readjust my thinking to the new area all the time. There is that moment of "where am I?" that sometimes happens after an auto cycle, that slows me down.

I hope this is just something missing from the preview build. But it not being there is a bit scary.

Absolutely, I don't understand why they can't go from closest unit to next closest unit. But this seems like options 101 to me - it would be pretty ridiculous if they didn't have a way to turn it off.

I would like a wait button. I don't have high hopes that this will be in, hopefully it can be modded in.

Yeah, it's way annoying to give a unit an order — especially to attack — and then have the camera suddenly pan away before you see the result!

Autopan has been my most annoying thing for 2 versions of Civ now, and it was even worse in V than IV. Will be very unhappy if I get the schizo-shuffle all over the map every turn. Ooh a worker, Ooh, a frigate, Ooh, a cavalry, Ooh, another worker, Ooh, a fighter plane, Ooh, a trade caravan.

By far the most annoying feature. They should just have a button you press that does the auto cycle thing, even if it does drag you across the world. That way you can just click through units in the order that's immediately apparent to you and when you're done with the initial tasks of the turn you had in mind, you can hit that button to find any units you've missed.

Agreed, let's ask that asap to the devs, this would be a serious question indeed, not the cosmetic ones about Pericle's helmet.

I think, in the LPs, a lot of the spanning around has to do with the LPer pressing the "next unit" button right after they complete an action but just before the game spans to another unit, thus creating double-spanning (unit auto-cycling + the LPer cycling an extra time by clicking the button). Could be also why they sometimes end up trying to move a unit that is not centered on the screen.

At least that's what I'm observing, sometimes they do mouse around and click at things very quickly, without letting the viewer time to follow (though the more I watch the easier it is to follow along, of course).

Agreed. The auto-pan is terrible, and I'd love a way to turn it off. Civ V had that option though, so I'd be surprised if Civ VI doesn't have that option in the end.

I definitely want an option to toggle the auto unit cycle on/off. Often when I have a cluster of units that's where I want to focus. The pan from the auto unit cycle breaks my concentration and, so, reduces my enjoyment. No focus = no "one more turn".

I also really, really, really want a keyboard "wait" command.

Is there still a way to cycle through units who require an action? I believe the default key is "W" in Civ 5. I heard this was removed, anyone know if there is truth to that?

Edit: It doesn't appear to be under the Keybindings section in the OP's video. Hope mods can fix that. :shake:

Let's be honest, they simply didn't put that option in the press release because it's funny to see all those streamers getting mad at this.

Moderator Action: Moved to Ideas & Suggestions

Yea, I can see how it could be construed as a suggestion. But if it isn't in the final version of the game I'll file it as a bug, because the function is so basic not having it is a bug, not a missing feature. In my opinion.
