automated workers bug

as mentioned in many posts.
outside the fat cross that is fine.

If in doubt search.

Automated workers are bugged. I caught some on road building trying to build a workshop on a resource i had built a farm on. Some others chopped down forests without me asking!

They were defo on automated networks, which should build the addition needed on resources but shouldnt change it and shouldnt chop down trees. Or atleast they didnt before and this is how i liked it, anyone know how to change a setting to fix this or is it a known bug which is getting fixed.

Thanks!

Please post saves/screens if you believe there's a "bug" (or suboptimal AI worker behaviour).

As LedHead mentions, building forts outside of cities' fat crosses is a feature, not a bug.

Strange Automated worker behaviour was described in this bug report:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=234140

They do worse, such as continually building improvements on the same plot of land. It was found that selecting "Automated Workers leave existing improvements" will fix it for now, until a patch fixes it.

I'm afraid I don't have a save for this, but two workers that I placed on "Build Trade Network" duty promptly tried to build a cottage on top of a watermill. I'll try to get a savegame file next time.

Explain why this is fine, please.

This has been explained tons of times before on dif posts , is stated on the site on the BTS info pages and even the manual  anyways, if the resource is not in your city fat cross but in cultural borders just build a fort, you will get the resource plus easier to defend in case someone tries to pillage..assuming you have a unit inside that fort. Forts lets your civ to have access to all resources since bts...

Forts also let you have the "hookup" in place when you get the required tech. Say you have Scientific Method and see oil. You can't hook it up till combustion... but if you build a fort on the oil soon as you do get combustion that oil is hooked up. No need to build the well. Same applies to calender resources.

As stated the fort is easier to defend said oil from people that may have an issue with you building tanks... :D
