Autumn 2017 Patch General Discussion

I suppose the voice thing might be an undocumented fix, but a lot of people pointed it out, so if it is fixed it should be in the patch notes.

And if it wasn't fixed, what the ****?

Do you have any mods? There were errors like that when the last patch launched, and they were solved by scrubbing your install of all mods.
Ah, good idea. I'll try that.

Edit (a few minutes later): Nope, that doesn't seem to help at all. Now my game is not only lacking the update, but it's totally unplayable. :(

I really like the look of the new civs and the religion changes (though what, specifically, the new beliefs are seems like exactly the sort of thing that should be in the patch notes). The "Balance Changes" section of the notes, however, falls short even of the low expectations the previous patches left me with. Six lines of minor balance changes (the gossip changes are UI, not balance) are woefully insufficient for the game's current state. There are still huge issues with science/production balance, difficulty pacing and specialist utility (to name a few), and if for some reason the developers are happy with the state of these larger issues, there's a huge amount of balance work to be done on individual civs, units, civics, beliefs and so forth.

Push it up by hitting the arrow up button or restart Steam.

Thanks, restarting Steam worked.

That was only ever a UI bug though, the bonuses were still being applied correctly under the hood.

I'm not so sure. It seemed like I was getting Theocracy bonuses one game when I never run that government.

Those are usually expansion types of things.

Well, no [MODDING] section again, maybe next time...

I mean it was only back in August that they said "We are going to be talking in more detail about modding further down the road."

Spoiler :
August 2016

One patch note says modding of UI should be easier now?

Yeah, could someone who have jumped into the game already tells us about these new things, please?
  • What are the new beliefs?
  • What are the agendas of Khmer and Indonesia? Can't believe they weren't mentioned in the DLC notes.
Thanks in advance!
They mentioned in the video that Jayavarman II likes civilizations that build Holy Sites and have high populations. I believe Gitarja will dislike people who build on islands or coastal cities and wants them for herself.
I only know of the Warrior Monk religious belief which allows purchasing of Warrior Monks with faith. Two new worship buildings, Stupa, and Dar-E-Mehr (Zoroastrianism Fire Temple) and a Pantheon named Mother Earth Goddess which grants faith based on appeal. If I'm wrong on some please correct me.

Does have any information on which are the 9 civs that were given the LOW_RELIGIOUS_PREFERENCE trait?

I'm very curious as to this. But I'll just have to discover it on my own I suppose. At first I was thinking it would be random each game, but from the way it's written, these 9 civs will always have low religious preference. I think I'd prefer it to be random each game. I'm going to guess America is one of them.

Yes, the game threw players bonuses for govt types not yet available or used. It was also difficult to determine exactly how much of a bonus was earned or actually being accumulated for previous and current govt types. This is an important issue, not a minor UI fix.

I meant in the Aspyr loading screen, but yes, same for the main version - which is many builds ago. I think something went wrong with the release Mac-wise - I wonder if nothing was actually supposed to be released, especially as there was no activity on the mac builds in the run up.

Edit: Yeah this is looking like the original release version or so.

I don't think it was... the Steam news says "Mac patch coming soon"

No mention of fixing the looping audio bug that happens randomly in every game I play (especially to units like the field cannon) . I really hope they tried to fix that.
