Autumn 2017 Patch General Discussion

Those are usually expansion types of things.

There are definitely some issues with the game (such as tourism doing nothing but acting as a culture victory counter) where fixes seem more like expansion material than patch material. None of the things I mentioned, though, would need any new mechanics to fix, just some numerical tweaks and playtesting of the results. That's exactly the sort of thing patches are for.

anyone know if the patch overwrites files you've modified? I haven't really been running mods, but I have modified a few of my files. I may verify integrity of my files just to be on the safe side.

I'm not so sure. It seemed like I was getting Theocracy bonuses one game when I never run that government.

You definitely got got the bonuses you were meant to be getting, even if they disappeared. As for the random bonuses that appeared as well, I can't say I ever noticed them applying, but I didn't attempt to track them myself, which is something I did do for the Classical Republic GP's I was meant to be getting etc

Thank you, sir!

City Patron Goddess, and Earth Goddess new beliefs.

Then the Angkor Wat is a wonder of growth, as I imagined it would be. It seems to be worth to build now, while it was practically useless in civ5.

No balance tweaks to encourage coastal cities?

Isn't there less incentive now to make coastal cities if the AIs are more competent/aggressive on the water?

I was kind of hoping they would boost the desire to settle on the water to showcase any upgrades in the AI naval handling...

Something might be borked with the CS placement. Or did this happen before (random map)?

Spoiler :

This is my second turn seeing the settler and he moved, so he didnt spawn there. He might still be searching for a spot.

Update! Next turn, the settler settled in place. Maybe it's a feature, not a bug! Late spawning CS!

If any deluxe owner can't find new leaders when creating new game, like me - enable all Firaxis related additional content. For some unknown reason few DLC (Aztecs, Poland) got disabled in my setup even though I never disabled them before. Also newest DLC was disabled in my case.

Still appreciate it, though! Some of us won't be able to get on quite yet. Thanks for getting off the game a bit to put it up.

I seem to remember the indonesia announcement saying something was NON-lake coastal tiles, but all their abilities seem to say "coast or lake", unles I"m missing some. Nice

Enhancer Belief: Burial Grounds- Culture Bomb adjacent tiles when completing a Holy Site

I really like that they added this belief. I hope they add more ways for a Civ that doesn't have inherent cultural bomb to get it, like a CS suzerain bonus that give cultural bomb to Encampments. It take some of the uniqueness of the Civs that have it but it's an ability that imo shouldn't be exclusive to a few Civs.

Indonesia agenda:
- Archipelagic state: Likes civs who avoid settling or conquering cities on small landmasses. Hates anyone with numerous cities on such islands

Khmer agenda:
- An end to sufering: Likes civs with many holy sites and high avg pop. Dislikes civs lacking in either of these areas.
