Avalon Hill's Diplomacy

I would be willing to play.
I never played over the net but played a couple of regular games.

I only wish that there will be a break between Xmas and new years day.

Any place I can get this game on the net? I have never played it, but I would like to. Also, non-DOS?

Although there is a PC game out, it fails to capture the essence of Diplomacy. You really need the board game for this (oh yeah, it's non-DOS too ;)).

What does it leave out on the PC version?

The PC game's AI cannot capture the essence of Diplomacy - it is only fun with real people playing. I imagine the PC game could come in handy for learning, though, and you can get it for $10 or so.

Very cool. I will have to check it out.

Diplomacy is always great when you get to play in person. But then there is the backstabbing and punches and pain and death.

Umm. . . what is the game if not backstabbing and punches and pain and death? Thats DIPLOMACY. If everyone were honest, the game would center on pure strategy. For a strategy game, its pretty friggin boring. If you take out the Diplomatic cloak&daggering, give me Axis&Allies any day.

Have you played the new Axis and Allies?

Playing it now, actually. Currently I'm Germany, and have destroyed the USSR, captured all its territory west of Evenki, and seized the northwestern half of Africa. I'm making 65-68 IPCs a turn. England has gained a strong foothold on Norway, but my foot soldiers should retake Northern Europe in just a few turns while meanwhile the great fleet I've assembled in the Mediterranean will be putting out to open ocean, to threaten Brazil, London, and the American eastern seaboard. Japan reigns supreme throughout Asia and the South Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand, and has taken Africa's East Coast. Hawaii has been seized and Japanese soldiers are pushing into Canada from Alaska. It is only a matter of time until London, New York, or Los Angeles falls, and the Axis claims a major victory.

As some of you may know I am a long-time PBEM player of AAEurope and AAPacific.

When AAEuropeMC changed how they did things I was 5th on the rankings and a two times tourney winner.

For AAPacific I am a rules director at days-of-infamy.com having left AAEurope/PacificMC due to differences of opinion with the club owner. I'm also a long time player at Days-of-Infamy.com where I'm in the top 5 or 6, with a pretty decent record.

Destructive Canadians? I first got introduced to this game by some guys in Halifax (one of which is my cousin), but their games have degenerated in to stagnated alliances and blood hunting...

Edit: This was Diplomacy. I didn't realize that you guys had been talking about a different game.
