Similar request, could somebody please get rid of the surrounding white? It's been bothering me but I have no idea how to go about removing it. Sort of like what clamspammer has in the second attachment.

Thanks so much for trying, but there's still the white box around it.

Strange... CC, it looks to me like your avatar still has the white box as well. Maybe it's just me. If so, I'll get over it.

Spoiler How it looks on my screen :

Transparency only works in PNG and GIF files.

Could this have something to do with it? Just in case, here's a copy of the picture in GIF form.

No problem, glad you like it :)

I did save both of them in PNG format, but it's your browser that can't render the transparency. In IE7 (my browser of choice) it looks perfect, as it should if you were to save my file to your desktop and open it with suitable editing software. PNG offers higher quality (lossless) compression and more colours then GIF which only supports 256. Also, transparency on GIFs can appear rather jagged since each pixel is either at 100% opacity or 0% opacity - no chance for anti-aliasing unless you tailor it to a specific background colour!
For these reasons, and because most people now use browsers that can display PNGs properly, I prefer to save avatars I make in PNG. Although I understand that at a work computer, for example, you may be forced into using an older browser like IE6!

Anyway, here's your mic saved in GIF. This should look better to you :).

EDIT: here's a screenshot from my browser...

Ah I see. I guess it's fine if it looks transparent to other people. Eventually I'll get IE7 on my laptop and I'll see it too.

Thanks so much! :hatsoff:

Hey, no problem! I (and many others) wish full PNG support could be more widespread simply because PNG is far superior to GIF. IE6 doesn't have full support, but IE7 practically does. I think the other main browsers have had full alpha support for PNG for a while now. On the hit-counter stats for a website I manage, it says 15% of my visitors use IE6. 35% use IE7 and about 35% use Firefox (any version). If it's 15%, that's not too bad.
Anyway, I'm derailing the thread here ;).

Someone wanna take a stab at making my background transparent?

Here's a quickie for you - didn't have time to clean it up I'm afraid, so it's a little messy round the edges but I'll come back to it later if you want, or someone else will have a go I'm sure. :)

I'm sorry...Is that background transparent?

Probably, it just doesn't look like it on your screen. The same thing happened to me up the page some.

Okay, that was me trying to be polite and say that it wasn't. Too subtle, I guess.
