JS Bachs Cathedral if your civ is on a large landmass.

IMO this is one kick ass Wonder.

My republic is now able to maintain longer war campaigns and production of all cities is up due to no need of entertainers.

If I were on a small landmass this wouldn't be a big deal, but my random map turned out to be mostly large continents, and ALL my cities are benefiting.

If anyone else has a Wonder which you consider to be the best, let it be known!

Does Shakespeares theater create 8 happy citz in only the built city?

I see how that would be beneficial for one city... but my Bachs Cathedral is making 2 happy citizens in EACH of my 20-30 cities (haven't tallied the number)

I have 2 that I like (just cause I am a skinflint when it comes to commerse)

Adam Smiths tradeing post  (love not haveing to pay for alot of the advances)

Leinardo's work shop (nothing like upgradeing units for just half price)

and yes Pyrimids at the begining are a must.

Adam's and Leonardo's are now as useful but far less powerful than they were in Civ2...
However I would say that they are more logical and things are better now.
They are indeed a good measure of the power of a civ over the others...
Less useful than Pyramids(that I found quite unrealistic)are probably between my favourites...:goodjob:

Pyramids are great when playing on lower difficulty levels, but can be a _hinderance_ when playing on the hardest. Keeping citizens happy is the #1 concern when playing the two hardest levels and a population that grows too fast can be a big problem. I guess in civ3 you can just kill off the little buggers to rush construction, but that doesnt fit too well with my playing style. I prefer hanging gardens or oracle in ancient era as they do help some with unhappiness, and of course the Cathedral is the best wonder overall and the one i concentrate on getting. If i get beat to it, sometimes I just start a new game, cuz its essential.

I like hoover too.

Bach's Cathedral and Sistine Chapel (6 culture points).

It's a very clever piece of game design I think. If you want to build the UN and win diplomatically, you must research Fission, and potentially enable the creation of the Manhattan Project. By having the most warlike elements of the game, and the diplomatic victory enabler, down the same path of the tech tree, it helps ensure that the game remains balanced in a certain way.

Oh okay, I can see it's gameplay value. It would be interesting to be able to have a world that is united without fission. I can see how the threat of nuclear holocaust would drive people to talk about mutual survival, but it would be nice to think that the world could be unified out of the love of peace, God, the environment, and pink fluffy....HEY! WTH just happened to me there?
