So I start off, found my first city, and start teching pottery, which is the fastest way to writing(faster than through animal husbandry or priesthood). In 10 turns I get pottery, then in 14 more turns I get writing. If there is a faster way to get writing, could someone please enlighten me, because I fail to research it first every damn time. This should be changed so that you atleast start with pottery so the Historical Goal of being the first to research Writing is POSSIBLE. Maybe change one of the historical goals to, oh i don't know, build the Hanging Gardens? That seems to make sense for the Babylonians doesn't it? Rhyes is cool, but it really messed up the Babylonian Scenario.

The first step is to get to Writing before the Chinese do. This means you must beeline straight for it. Research order: Pottery-Writing

Unfortunately this never works. I even build something the first turns that won't hinder my growth such as a warrior or barracks(so that I will have 2 or 3 tiles worked with gold on them so that writing comes in 14 turns rather than 15).

It occurred to me after I posted this that maybe there is a patch I don't have. Is this the case? I'm running the original mod that shipped with the BTS with the 3.13 update.
