Babylonian Trade of the First Contact

I agree with waiting 3 turns too. BTW what direction did the Babylonian come from?

Well, how about we reduce Science by 10%, Drop Wheel from our side of the table, and combine Raw Gold and GPT only for Pottery.

I would be against any more than 2 GPT, and if 1 GPT + 10 Gold doesn't cut it, yet 2 GPT would, we get as much Raw Gold from the Babs as we can.

In Other Words:

How do you keep spaces in these things anyway?

Type it up in Notepad, using tabs and spaces. Then, paste it inside the

Let's do the trade, we need pottery ASAP.
While we do need Pottery ASAP, waiting to research it would be better, so I'd say that we wait to see what they have to offer after we have discovered Bronze Working. When will their be a poll for this discussion, because the options should be simple enough?

So far, I have discerned 3 proposals, including my own which, while I probably would not vote for it, Iwill not rescind because it is an option.

Actually, thinking about that, I came up with another.

How shall we trade with the Babs?

1. Accept their current Offer of Techs+Gold for Wheel
2. Try to squeeze 1 GPT from Babylon in addition to Gold and Pottery for Wheel. (New idea, we still research BW on our own)
3. Trade Only Pottery for Our Gold (no more than 2 GPT+0, Lump Sums can be used with 0 or 1 GPT)
4. Trade Only BW for 1 GPT (Thanks, Cyc)
5. Wait until we research BW on our own then reopen negotiations
6. Do not trade at all
7. Declare War Without Trading
8. Abstain

I listed the options that came to my mind in addition to prevalant ones. Does this suffice and shall we start the clock?

EDIT: Added both options. Even though I originall felt "Wait a Few turns" encompassed the "Don't Trade" option.

Though if "Declare War" gets even one vote in our present situation...

First of all, as the pic below shows, we don't need to be at 100% Science. We could reduce the slider to 70 - 80% and gain 1 gold per turn.

Second of all, we're spending 4 gold per turn on Bronze Working, as the pic below shows. This means we will spend 12 gold for the three turns left on research.

Therefore if we adjust our slider down, so we make 1 gold per turn and still get bronze in three, we can trade Hammy 1 gold per turn for Bronze Working.

This will enforce our Peace Treaty with them. We will essentially be paying an extra 8 gold for the Tech (Bronze). But as Fanatikku will grow in 6 turns, we'll be making an extra 2 GPT on the mmined and roaded wheat. So I don't see a big loss in paying 1gpt for Bronze and solidifying our Peace Treaty with Hammy.

We can jsut wait a turn, see if the Warrior leaves, then if he does, go on and plant our city. Plus, we'll be able to start IW that much sooner. :)

The AI won't trade GPT before the mid- Middle- ages. Just a note.

And after a little thinking, I think it would be wise to wait for 3 turns to see if they have Iron working or something in their sleeve hidden until we get BW.

If the AI won't trade GPT before the mid- Middle- ages, how come Hammy will accept this trade?

I thank his Honor, the Chief Justice for his Research.

IIRC, only in Conquests do I encounter a signifigant problem with the AI giving GPT. I haven't tried myself giving GPT, but...

I will add His Honor's suggestion to the mock poll under consideration. Reset the Clock!

When we settle new city we will get 1 gpt + 1 we are having now and we could use it for research to speed up Iron Working for 2-3 turns. I'd like to save that 1gpt for us.
Aah i got an idea now: if we give 1 gpt now we will anyway be 2-3 turns ahead so it doesn't matter. That is also good option.

An option is to simply trade, get techs and 10gold and save 1gpt for IW and get 2-3 turns increase in Iron Working. This way we give up Wheel to Babs so thats disadvantage but we will get pottery earlier so we'll have option to build granary.

Whatever we decide i hope Babs won't get Wheel themselves in next few turns.
It seems there is no 'best' option here :mischief: .

uh, guys?
1 stupid q- arent the Babs Sci/Rel? Meaning Bronze/CB. Right? Where does pottery come from? (I think I know the answer to this, but I fear it as well)
(unless they've researched it, which in this case, disregard this q. ive yet to check the save)
are you saying the babs got it from someone expansionist?

that trade isnt too bad, pottery would be really nice
