Despite 2 civs recently imposing bans on Pearls and Silver and another imposing a ban on trading with City-States my cities are all asking for Pearls to give WLTKDs.

I have just now gained the diplomatic upper hand over a City-State that has Pearls and now all cities love me. :D

Shouldn't the mechanic of banning trade of certain resources or with certain CS or civs also affect these?
Just how has my civ gained access to these resources? Diplomatic pouches for smuggling contraband?:mischief:

I understand the text description of these bans does only say No Happiness from them, but why else would they be traded? The end result is the same.

Well it wouldn't really be fair if the turn after the vote half your cities demanded a resource that you couldn't give them even if you had a copy of it.

The WC resolution prohibits you from obtaining happiness from the luxury, but WLKDs have nothing to do with happiness. I've gotten WLKDs for connecting strategic resources, so a happiness-banned luxury should be no different.

WLKDs from strategic resource o.O weird.

Think of it as a illegal monoply of that object, smuggling it into your country xD.

At certain times your cities will demand a resource you don't have. Acquiring that resourceg rants a celebration which I think speeds up their growth rate.

The world congress ban usually says that the resource will no longer cause unhappiness in civilizations with it. That could be true that the luxury ban still gives WLTKD shouldn't be giving WLTKD anymore with a ban.

Really??? Never happened to me...or you mean connecting a strat ressource for a cs so he can give you the lux...?

That could be possible. I didn't really notice if the resource for wltkd was strategic or luxurious.

I've gotten WLKD in quite a number of games from connecting strategics. As you note, I've also gotten WLKD by connecting a luxury as a result of a CS quest asking for a strategic (smetimes when the CS itself already has that strategic -- ally the CS to satisfy the quest for its own strategic, and get a further influence boost from satisfying the quest, plus the WLKD benefits).

Never seen this. Is this difficulty-determined? I don't play the games posted on here, so I haven't touched anything below emperor in more than a year, but I don't remember my people ever asking for a strategic.
