So I was watching MadDjinn's LP, and there he got full museum theming bonus by getting an ancient Russian artifact and then pairing it with an ancient artifact from Lhasa.

My question is, are city-state and barbarian artifacts count as fillers and just add up to the bonus? As far as I understand, the slots have to be filled with works from same civ to get the full bonus, and I think when I tried it in games, I did not get any bonuses, and I just swapped them. Was it fixed in the fall patch? (MadDjinn has a different Aesthetics finisher, so the game is pre-patch, I assume, though I did not play then). Or do I just need same era artifacts from the barbarians/CS as the major civ artifact to get the full bonus?

the museum bonus is either: 1.both from your civ, or 2. both from civs OTHER than yours. so yes, CS and barbarians do count, and doesn't have to be from the same civ either.

then you need to match the age as well.

and doesn't have to be from the same civ either.
B-b-but the description says:

"Fill the slots for Great Works of Art with the same type (you can also fill the slots with Artifacts), same civilization and same era. If you only fulfill 2 requirements, it provides +1 theming bonus."

This actually means:
Either your CIV OR any combination of foreign CIVs (including city states).

Hm, indeed. Tried it in game: same era, same type, civs other than mine, and it worked. Thanks!
