So what do y'all think of the new battlefield? I think it's awesome, especially the teamplay. Everyone can form up in squads and talk to eachother with an ingame teamspeak system. You have squadleaders that give orders to the people in their team, and one commander which has an overview of the entire battlefield and he gives orders to sqaud leaders.

And the great thing is, it actually works! People form up squads and work togheter. Something that was hardly ever achieved in older BF games where most people only thought about their own scores.

It's just so great to be in a squad of 6 people where the medic helps people who are wounded, the support man lays down intense crossfire, and the squad leaders shouts orders in the microphone. Freaking intense!

The next generation of multiplayer FPS games is here. And it rocks!

I haven't tried all the feature but being an old DC fan, this is an obvious purchase for me.

The squad and commander concepts are great, but so far the game seems a bit too chaotic for comander strategies. Perhaps that will change with larger maps. It also seems the fire exchange are pretty short range so that two opposing squads are pretty mixed up when fighting. Well so far I have only used the squad function as a buddylist replacer and have not dared trying the commander role yet (edit: in public servers. I've tried it in single player).

I love the sound and driving feeling of the DPVs!

The sprint function fits my playing style very well, I usually run from spot to spot.

I disagree. Although whoever goes the commander needs to do it full time, IE just go n hide in a corner.

The squadleader announces where they are attacking (just by aiming, pressing T, and clicking), an air strike can be called on that area by teh commander. The squad moves in and the commander deploys a UEV (or UAV :hmm:).
On public, that absolutely rapes. Especially if you are all using the voice comms.

Really looking forward to playing this in clanmatches :D And yarr, the DPVs are great fun. Especially when there's a whole crowd of infantry waiting to be run over

I've been playin the demo the last few days and remembered why I used to love the old game. I wasn't sure if they'd be able to improve upon DC (though I didn't like DC) but they did a fantastic job.

Too bad the ranking system isn't available right now though...

I've been playinf it for the past three days stright and I love it. It's the only game that has EVER interrupted an ongoing game of civ more more then two hours. I haven't hardly been able to stop playing it, except for the occasional sleep and potty breaks, I haven't even hardly eaten, and this is just the demo. :) I wasn't really thinking about buying before I played the demo, but now I can't wait for it to come out, so I can go and get the full version. I have to say being in a squad is awesome, but I haven't been a Squad Leader or Commander as that's not my style, but I do love being part of a squad, getting together in an APC, and going to the nearest base to do some clean-up. It's also quite fun to take an undefended base by yourself, and see how long you can defend it when the enemy comes to take it back. Man, I think this is going to be the game that finally breaks my 'one more turn' syndrome.

Being in a squad is indeed awesome. I think I'll have to buy a mic just for this game. :)

Anyone got any cool experiences to share? So far one of the most exhilarating things I've done was hiding behind some cover with the rest of my squad while the commander called in some artillery on the nearby flag. Once the squadleader said "run for it", we all dashed across the open space just as the artillery was ending and took the flag. Pretty cool stuff. :D

I was camping up in one of the 'buildings' with the ladders (middle spawn) and had loaded the flag with c4. I waited for 5 minutes for a guy to show up and he was in a tank. Well, he got out of the tank to get to the site for it to flip over. I stood up (was in prone position, not that he could see me anyway) and I could see him thinking "Mother ******)" and I blew him way the hell up. A few seconds later he had typed "That was cold man.."

Loved it ;D

And according to EA, won't be available on many servers when the game is released - all because of the server hax :P (ie no time limit etc)

Don't really have many stories, I just rock :D Tho I do love carrier camping, setting C4's in the black hawk, watching people take off/fly away, and boom

I loved DC, so I'll defenintaly buy this when it comes out.

I've only played singleplayer so far, and I think it's great! I love how medics can revive people (and kill them) with shock paddles.
The range of the weapons seems kind of short, but I can live with that. I like the idea of squads. This is a must-buy game.

The range isn't short, they just have a spread over anything bigger than medium distances. If you switch firing mode to single shot, and use the iron sights, you can get kills over longer distances. :)

The longer the distance, the higher you need to aim. The bullets are pulled towards the ground by 'gravity'.
So even tho you're aiming for his balls, it will hit the ground (if you're quite far away)

I really want this game :D

I'm just used to DC, where I could put the crosshairs on a guy a mile away with an M16 and kill him dead.

I should be used to short range though, I used shotguns a lot in DC. The Saiga 12k rocks.

Modest!

Remember when I used to own you (and your friend?)

:D
That was the first time I had ever played battlefield online. That was also the first time I had ever played that map. I was also playing on a laptop (at my friend's house) on a very thin glass table that was at a dodgey height. It all adds up

Since then; I have got broadband, joined a cup-winning clan, and held 1st place on bftracks  [/modesty] :p
