Battletech/MW mod collaboration?

If the colsest you can get is 254/80/254 it doesn't matter too much all you have to do is alter the pallette when you make the storyboard so the the last colour in the pallette is 254/80/254. Then make the shadows darker variations on that colour.

If you have too much trouble, make the storybard, save it as a true colour image and post it here (in a zip) for me to edit.
Also try giving it no self illumination, most of your testures should have zero (or at least low) self illumination as this allows you to have good dark shadows.

Also if you save your images as gifs rather than jpegs when posting on the web you get better results.

Well, thanks to Smoking Mirrors suggestions and zulu9812's assistance, finally was able to make proper flc's, just proving that you can teach an old other challenged dog new tricks.

The first one off the blocks (minus civ text)...the Bandit. Comments please before I get too far along on the others.

Looks great. If you make the body Green like in the preview at the top then its easy to do a colour replcae on the unit. So as well as having civ colours you can make the vehile have differnt style camoflage for different world scenarios.

Here is an example;

Aighty gents, new prob...as you can see. I've gotten the size issue solved easilly enough, but the colors....Any ideas why?

flickster used a special pallette- Perhaps you already know that. There are a few tutorial threads in the tutorial section but getting the palettes right is one of the most difficult aspects of making a unit for the first time.

If you can't work out how to get it right from the tutorials Post the flick or storyboard and I will convert it to an apropriate pallete.

Basicaly the top few lines of colours are for civ colours and the lower ones are for shadows and smoke. There are also some colours just below the civ colours that have to remaing the same in each pallete regardless of how you edit the others. These are probably the ones that are causing the trouble.

Unless that is the largest tank available you might want to consider shrinking it down some more. I realize that we are going to be dealing with misproportions but to whatever degree we can control it, especially within same type units, i.e. tanks should be proportionate relative to other tanks, mechs to mechs, etc., I think we should try and keep them somewhat proportionate. Ya know what I mean? :)

Yea, I thought it might be tha pallette causing probs Smoking Mirror. I've tried extracting one from a unit thats close in colors but guess it wasn't close enough. I've read thru a couple of the creation tut's but maybe I missed a key point (yet again), would you mind pointing to the thread? I appreciate the offer to do em ( and may take you up on it with other units if the offer is open, or it'll be a year to get thru all this) but I'd also like to know the process. )

And you're right Kal-el, that screen shot was from the first trial, once I saw it I went back and re-rendered at about half the frame size. I figure most of them are going to be in the 70x70 range
