Beginner Friendly?

Started my first game, but no one wants to go to War with me haha.

Anyways, I'm on the lowest difficulty setting (Settler?). Should I bump it up or keep it low to learn? Honestly, I did slowly start to learn things and I was having some fun

just go straight for Deity, you won't have any problems... it's meant to be that way. Hey, we are all equal in this world, you know?

Ahh I am on the demo, and I'm on turn like 70 something. Barnicles! My friend has the full version so maybe I'll stop by and play on his machine to test it out further, if not I'll prolly go out and buy it.

If you're enjoying it so far, chances are you'll continue to. Obviously there are a lot of people here who aren't happy with the current state of the game, but the issues they're frustrated with are unlikely to affect you at this stage.

That said, I might try a full playthrough at your friend's house or a few more runs through the demo, just to be sure you're going to be interested enough to spend the money to buy it. Obviously that's up to you, though. Keep us posted.

Here is a "civ by civ" guide. Don't agree with everything in there, but could be useful for picking a civ to play and how to find and use their strong points.

And you might want to follow the discussion in this thread.

Awesome, what a cool idea they have to take turns like that and go in depth and stuff. I love mentoring programs (i've established a few in other games). It seems they've already begun so maybe I'll try to get in on the next one. So much text to read though haha.
