What is the best civ to be for a) military b) science advancements ?

a) Persians or the Ottomans

b) No favorites here, just any with the Science trait

For Scientific Civs on the lower levels I like to play as Russia... get your scouts out and find as many goody huts as you can it can give you a huge kickoff advantage.

Last game I played I found every first level tech save maybe Repub, Monarch, and two others, and i easily traded for the two others. Was out of AA in no time.

b) Greece, Russia, Byzantines

a) My favourite are the Celts and the Iroquois.
b) I used the Inca for my fastest Emperor Space Race, but the Russians are pretty good, too.

I agree with thetrooper, besides I find the Celts and the Austrians quite good for warmongering and the Sumerians useful for science.

Any civ with the Agricultural trait.

IMHO, Iroquios are the best - great traits, killer UU
Dutch are second - great traits, excellent GA timing.

For militaristic civs I will always list Rome as my personal recomendation. The legion is vastly under-rated. As far as scientific, I wouldn't know.... j/k I do usually warmonger, but for scientific I play babylonians.

I find Germany to work best for me, Militarist and Scientific, but that's because I prefere to play on Emperor and Domination victory. The Panzer UU is just too cool, to boot!

a good civ is hittites. from when i play as them i am verry productive and get everything dome how i like it
