So, I'm getting back into Civ IV BtS, but I'm kind of out of touch. What do people think the best map generator is for single player games? I really like the look of PerfectPlanet2 from the screenshots, but I want to now what others think. What map scripts offer the most variation, the most options, the most realistic maps, etc?

PerfectWord 2 is a signifiacant improvement over the original and gives the most realistic map types you can get. It's also easy to customize if you're into that.

NewWorld by SevenSpirits is probably my second favorite. It generates a nice balance of continents and islands.

Check out Full of Resources if you want to be able to customize anything - and I mean anything - about a map.

I recommend trying PerfectWorld2 also, with the warning that it takes a while to initiate the script.

I'm biased but I like my own tectonics best. It allows mountain ranges that are strategically interesting and is quite random while still having a few options to customize.
PerfectWorld2 is not customisable unless you're into python but it's good.

Actually you can change a few variables with notepad. Look near the top of the file.

My ideal map script would be: Non-snakey continents and at least three separated continents with all old world civs. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Also, is there a Map Script where they group civilization types together; like MesoAmericans together, Europeans together, Asians together, etc.? Like the Culturally Flavored Starts thread.

You can get the culutrallly appropriate spawn mod and use it on any map script (i'm using it with perfect world 2) and it also comes with the option of being bundled with (albeit an older version) better AI mod.

I love Sto's Full of Resources. Amazing script. It's just that it seems incompatible with some mods. Anyone know which map script causes the least problems interacting with various mods?

Hi Daegan ! If you encounter a problem with a mod, do not hesitate to tell me which mod and give me the logs. I'll try to fix it. I've made the choice to implement parts of the script in function of the mod you play on purpose when initializing the script.

    Tcho !

I don't have the logs, but for Overlord 2.00 the game won't even launch when using Full of resources. As a matter of fact, once you configure FoR you can't do anything. Can't go back to main screen, esc out of it. You have to alt+tab and close it down. My experience anyway.

I still use it for many other mods. I've used it for years. It provides the most control over the map of any of the scripts. Thanks for the hard work! :goodjob:

Tectonics w/ lakes(30% water) look the best to me.
