I've been on this board a while, but haven't studied it a lot so sorry if this is kind of a dumb question :(

I know there are mods for the GotW to try to make the GotW more compatible competition wise for Mac players. I'd like to get that C3C feel in my games now, or at least as close as possible, by using this or a similar mod.

I also know several GotW mods have extra rules in them not common to any expansion to just picking one mod and installing I would get rules I don't want. I also know that if I just install a mod without playing the GotW I can generate random maps off that.

I was just curious which would be the best mod to use for my Mac. I have 1.29b2.

TIA!!!! :D

Do you mean GOTM (Game of the Month) ?

Games of the Month add a lot of the extras that are in PtW - new civs and UUs, the Internet Wonder, and others. They also have some of the rule changes that appeared in Conquests, but I wouldn't say they play like a real Conquests game. Some would say that's a Good Thing :mischief:

Until recently, the only way you could play with the extras in the GOTM mods was to play the GOTM game start files themselves. Now, bluebox has built a .BIC file that you can load up as a scenario to play your own random games with these mods. You also have to download and install the GOTM mod packs, of course. Use the installers linked in my sig to do that.

Now as I started thinking... I checked the pages and immidiately dl/d the drag'n'drop installer. Was it released above alpha yet?

And, would it be possible to add some kind of a readme with instructions on how to use it to the pack? Would help a bit if you happen to forget and are away... Let me guess though: just drag the .zip with the files in order and it will install the files by itself? If so, this is something so easy propably no other program can ever reaCH. :goodjob::

If I'll start playing GOTM or will feel like playing like PTW, will I need to install fist the GOTM 23 installation pack, then 24, then 25? Would there be any chances of getting them into one pack? Would be easier for new GOTM-ers...

:thanx:

In the early days there were some people who had trouble with it, and in spite of repeated attempts to explain how to use it, they were unable to get it to work. As a result, I never felt it had reached a proper release status.

However, you're quite right, the drag and drop installer *should* have a later release number than Alpha now, and it *should* include a set of instructions. Thanks for writing them for me :mischief: When I'm bored and short of something to do I *might* do something about it :hmm:

Re. the three zip files, you are also correct. Somewhere around here I published links to the three .zip files, as they are scattered around the sites. I guess I could create a single big file - it would be a 25 MByte download, though, and only any use to Mac players wanting the GOTM mods.
