BEST starting location

I think the perfect starting location would be 2 food bonsus(preferably cattle) and 1 or 2 luxaries close.

If you want improbable/perfect I would also want an iron works in that city as well!

Like this one, you mean...?

Loads of cattle (there's 2 more to the east of Intombe that have been cut off), several wheat, 2 luxuries, horses, iron (just visible in the north-west corner) and plenty of fresh water...
Unforunately it wasn't my start position, so I had to invade it later...

3 cows in city radiuss = godly. 3 cows + furs in city radius = uber-godly.

I havent had one but I would think that a great starting position would be a huge big island all to your self with lots of rivers and plenty of resources.

(Not my starting position, but good nonetheless). This may not look like a good city position, but it is in fact very good. It has 'best of both worlds' so to speak. It has a couple wheat on flood plain, and then hills, with Iron Works.

This was a mp game. My capital was right to the east of the city. Messed up the city arrangement though cause the ottomans were very close to me.

what's the use of 11 incense anyway? u need only 1 to make ur own citizens happy and a few others for trade.

The zulu are going to be monsters if you let them have that city.

Also, floodplains are so so. They give nice food but 1 plains and 1 hill can work both tiles also.

I said it before, I'll say it again.

Resource Denial.

If Pug is in control of all the incense, then that's four happy faces the AI ain't getting. They will pay handsomely for it later in the game.
