Best Trait Combos?

Mayas have the best trait combos in C3C. Agricultural + Industrious..
Playing for Mayas you can win an emperor game like it was a warlord

I have a Sid game going with the Mayans right now, so far so good.

For Civ3 and Ptw America has the best combo Industrous and Expansionist

The Mayans have the best trait combo. And combined with Jav Throwers...

I only have ptw, and I think that it's Greeces Ind./Sci.

first of, anything with agricultural because agricultural is just too good to be true.

To go with that, i would personally prefer militaristic, industrious or commercial.

I'll settle with seafaring (the dutch) though since i am from holland and the UU is perfect for me. (It comes at good time for GA, and fits very well with artilery warfare)
:D

correction: The greeks are Com./Sci.

Rel./Sci. is nice for builders like me.

I will always love industrial, even though it's a bit nerfed in C3C. I'm a warmongerer, so I need fast working combat workers. I usually like scientific for that free tech and cheap research improvements, but I also enjoy commercial's corruption lowering affect. So this is why I love playing as the Persians, Ottomans, and the French.

Agricultural & the other based on your style of play.

I'm going to have to agree with Industrious/Agricultural.

It really depends on a lot of things. You don't want expanionist on an archipelego map. Likewise, Seafaring is somewhat wasted on a Pangea.

It also depends on what type of win I want to go for. If I'm going for cultural, I'll probably choose a scientific or religious civ.

So really, the question should be "What's the best trait combo for x scenerio?"...

But I do find that I'm partial to the Dutch, Mayan, Incan, and American. Love the ottomans, and Persia's pretty cool too. I tend to favor the Middle Ages GA, so Ottomans are a tad better than Persia, IMo.

Industrious is THE trait of vanilla and PTW. Agricultural is THE trait of C3C and Industrious is toned down in C3C.

For PTW I would choose the Ottomans or Persians (I love Scientific). But France and Carthage are also great (Commercial).

In C3C I'd say Agricultural/Scientific (Sumerians). Scientific is not the best of traits on sid level though. You'd probably prefer income over better research there (Agricultural/Commercial (Iroquois).

This is on Pangaea or Continents. I would go for Seafaring/Scientifc (Byzantines) or Seafaring/Commercial (English) on an archi map with less rivers and therefore a largely wasted agricultral trait.

I would pick one of these civs to make a next step on the difficulty ladder.

I think the Mayans also. Agricultural is such a good trait and for workers in industrial, you can't really go wrong on any type of map. I also like Religious as I hate periods of anarchy and for me there is NEVER a good time for it!

Regards

Each trait has major pro's.

I'm usually more of a builder/science type of player, but recently I've been playing a more expansionist type of game- the Dutch are great for it with Seafaring and their ability to pop-out settlers in 15 teams in even the most crummy towns.

On the other hand, commercial, scientific and industrious traits can be essential in some circumstances. I once found myself (as Greece) cramped on a small continent with only four towns to America's six. Due to the science and commercial boosts, I was able to invest more heavily in my military in order to take the whole island.

Again, on the other hand, the religious trait can be a superb - cheap cathedrals can save on paying for luxuries turn-on-turn, and the 1-turn anarchy is a real bonus.

It really all depends on the map type, your own playing style and luck as to where you are placed on the map, imo.
