For the next release, we're going to do this a bit more professional. We will package an early release up to be tested for a week by some beta testers. We will only be doing a week long test on the full release, so will need to cram alot of play time into that week. If you'd like to get an early release of the new version of BUG & BAT, then please reply here with the following information:

Name:
Email: (Please post it like alerum at sourceforge dot net for your safety.)
Version of OS you are using.
Version of BTS you are using (Standard, Gold, or Complete & Version number).

Thank you!

Attached is the Release Candidate for BUG Mod 3.0. BAT 1.0 will be coming shortly, once I figure out a way to distribute the beta.

Please post any feedback, suggestion, or Bugs found in this thread. The offical release will be next Friday evening, just in time for your Weekend playing pleasure.;)

First one, first one! :)

Contrary to my previous plans, I decided to relax from my rather busy current work schedule by doing a bit of beta testing for BUG. :)

I chose to isntall BUG in the MODS folder. The installer created (in the MODS folder) a folder called "BUG Mod", and within this, folders called "Assets", "PublicMaps", and (again) "BUG Mod". This last folder contains the help files and the ini for advanced unit names.

However, the game looks for the help file in "Beyond the Sword\Mods\BUG Mod", whereas the file is actually located in "Beyond the Sword\Mods\BUG Mod\BUG Mod"

Second Bug: The installer did not install a "BUG Mod.ini" file. When I run the mod, the game automatically creates a standard ini file, but BUG cannot handle it. I can open the BUG Options screen and exit from it, and the "BUG Mod.ini" gets touched (filedate is updated), however no BUG-specific info is written into it.

Reading through the bug thread, I learn that I need to copy the "long" ini file to the right location, however no long ini file has been installed.

Btw, I notice that the first post in this thread says "only use the bug tracker for reports", while the second post says "please post any bugs here in this thread". I'm going with the second post for now as it's the more recent information, but clarification would be welcome.

EF said he tested it, and it worked.... (grumbles)

And I know the ITA help file is not the final one Cam. I compiled it before you had finished. The final one will have an updated CHM.

Update: Found the "BUG Mod.ini" file, it was in the "Beyond the Sword" folder.

However, I can't find the CustomDomAdv folder ... and the files that should be in there were dumped in the "Beyond the Sword" folder as well.

Sorry if I sound confusing ... I guess this is because the exe installer left me a bit, erm, confused ;)

Okay, trying to make myself clear:

When I choose the option "Install in Mods folder", then I get the following directory structure:

Code:
\Beyond the Sword
|-BUG Mod.ini
|-CustomDomAdv.txt (plus ita and ger versions)
|-Mods
  |-BUG Mod
     |-Assets (contains 4 subfolders)
     |-BUG Mod (contains 5 helpfiles and the Adv. Unit Naming.ini)
     |-Public Maps (contains 5 map scripts)
     |-Uninstall_BUG.exe

This seems a bit messed up, as neither the BUG Mod.ini nor the files for the custom domestic advisor are in place, and the BUG folder within the BUG folder is a bug.

When I choose the option "Standard Install", then installation defaults to the "Beyond The Sword" folder, and I get the following structure:

Code:
\Beyond the Sword
|-BUG Mod (contains 5 helpfiles, the CustomDomAdv directory, the Adv. Unit Naming.ini, the BUG Mod.ini and the license)
|-Custom Assets (contains 4 subfolders)
|-PublicMaps (contains 5 map scripts)

This setup doesn't work either - the "BUG Mod" folder needs to be installed in "Beyond the Sword\Mods", not in "Beyond the Sword".

Edit: Correction - the setup above *does* work, see alerum's post below.

I'll take a look at how it's set up. But the BUG Mod folder does not belong in the Mods folder, but in the root BTS folder. This will allow any mod using BUG Mod to use their preferred settings.

it works only if you choose standard install, but if you choose the installation in the mod folder, it puts the files in strange places. :(

So probably some misunderstanding on my side... but in that case what was the meaning of a later deadline for translators?

Anyway, I wasted a sunny Sunday but at least now the work is done :)

And I also learnt how to convert html in chm, with WinCHM (I don't know if it is the one you use) luckily it is very easy and quick, so if you don't have enough time in the future I can do it. :)

Ah, okay. Understood. So the Standard install currently *does* work correctly, and the "Install in Mod folder" doesn't.

If you want to compile your own help file, that would be great.;) I use the one that Microsoft put out.

edit: Oh, the deadline was in the hopes that you'd be able to translate everything last night. Since the slimmed down PLE hasn't been completed, then I figured I'd wait. I'm going to put another file out to test, and will recompile. No files locations or names have changed, so it should be quick. And don't feel so bad about a sunny Sunday. Me and EF gave up a sunny Fourth of July, and fireworks.:P:P

This is what happens:

..\Beyond the Sword
.......BUG Mod.ini
.......CustomDomAdv.txt
.......CustomDomAdv_ger.txt
.......CustomDomAdv_ita.txt
.......GNU Public License.rtf

.......\MODS\BUG Mod
.............Assets
.............PublicMaps

.............Uninstall_BUG.exe
.............\BUG Mod
....................Adv Unit Naming.ini
....................BUG Mod Help-XXX.chm

correct one should be (Alerum68):

...\Beyond the Sword\MODS\BUG Mod\PublicMaps\
...\Beyond the Sword\MODS\BUG Mod\Assets\
...\Beyond the Sword\BUG Mod\
\CustomDomAdv\
Adv Unit Naming.ini
BUG Mod.ini
BUG Mod Help-XXX.chm
GNU Public License.rtf

Cam, what is the Italian translationf or Plot List?

It is impossible to translate it properly, so i used the equivalent of "Icons of Units". Anyway, due to the fact that the mods are known even by Italian people with their English name, I decided to translate all of them in the following way:
"English Name (Italian Name)", where "Italian Name" isn't a literal translation but a new explicative name. It works :)

I hope this answers you, if not maybe you can tell me in which context do you need to translate it.

This is what happens now (new installer):

..\Beyond the Sword\BUG Mod
.......\CustomDomAdv
.......Adv Unit Naming.ini
.......BUG Mod.ini
.......BUG Mod Help-XXX.chm
.......GNU Public License.rtf
..\Beyond the Sword\MODS\BUG Mod
.......Assets
.......PublicMaps
.......Uninstall_BUG.exe

so I think it's ok now :)

Only one suggestion for future releases:
if possible (I don't know if it is), Uninstall_BUG.exe should stay in ..\Beyond the Sword\BUG Mod folder instead of ..\Beyond the Sword\MODS\BUG Mod folder.

A couple of errors with the help file: some title of the included mods pages are obsolete (both in ITA and in ENG): Row Yields and GGPB

Would you mind fixing them Cam? As for the uninstaller, I've only found it possible to put it into the directory you install into. I've tried putting a directory structure in front of the file name, but it doesn't work.

The problem is that the titles in the html files are correct, so I think the problem is in the wcp model files.

Anyway, I made a new ITA help file using WinCHP, and I uploaded it, now it is correct. I haven't touched your ITA wcp file or anything else, but if you really don't mind, I can easily take care of the ITA help packing in the future and give you the final product... I'd like to make some experience in working with this type of things.

I supposed that it was so, but I tryed to ask anyway :)
