Better BAT AI

The best description I can give you:
Screen shot one, is stack of units. I click on it, and it seems ok.
Screen shot two, say I want to move the great person, I click on the great person, the info for swordsman stays at bottom, and swordsman keeps yellow outline, and great person has yellow outline.(you notice the swordsman stays highlighted, if you click on the swordsman a second time the highlight goes away)
Screen shot three, I click swordsman again, yellow outline disappears, but as you can see, the bottom options all deal with swordsman, not great person who is infact highlighted.
Screen shot four, with great person highlighted, I hit a movement key, swordsman moves instead. You now see bowman in the number one position, and commands are for it. Note that before swordsman moved, I could have clicked on bowman forever, and not been given the bowman commands, (like upgrade to crossbowman).

In this example, I could click on the worker, but the worker would never actually activate. The only way I can get the worker to activate is if I group them, and then separate them with the ungroup them, in that case they all activate, but still the only way to activate the worker would be to hit "w" and cycle through the units. This problem also exists for a units in a city.

To sum up, I simply can not cycle through units in a pile with out grouping them, ungrouping them and then having to "wait" each unit until the one I want comes up. I can not simply click and select the unit that I want.

How to post a screenie;

1) click to the area of your screen that you want shown ( mouse pointing at it sometimes helps)

2) Hit print screen button on keyboard (if Win 7 or better)

3) Screenie is now residing in your BTS SS folder (you can verify if paranoid.. I always do :))

4) Click on "go advanced" instead of post quick reply.

5) Click on attachments paperclip, and a mini screen will pop up for your screenie.

6) Click the browse button, and go to your BTS SS folder, and select your screenie.

7) Once done, click the paperclip again, and you will now see your screenie title highlighted in red, click that and your screenie will now be attached. You can also follow up with any text in the text window.
 
I have the same problem as Yamato desscribed. Changing the the PLE "Draw metod" to BUG fixes the selection issue but the but at a loss of PLE advanced features.
Also, the BUG icon is there but cannot be activated.
Also, a suggestion: put the BUG into Options menu.
Other than this, looks great!

Unzip this file into the "\Better BAT AI\Assets\Python\Screens" folder (over writing the file that is there) and it will fix the PLE issue and the BUG icon not working.

Sorry about that. I had a return statement in the wrong place. I have some other things to fix up and I'll re-release the mod, but for those using the mod right now, this is the fix for this issue:

I, too, was having the PLE issue. At first I guessed it was something I introduced by me when I merged a couple other mods into Better BAT AI, but decided to see if it's a known issue.

I just have to say... when I came back to a game four years after my last campaign (and 3 years after Civ5 hit the shelves), I was expecting that the mod community would have pretty much wound down by now. To see an issue with a mod that has a fix posted just yesterday is incredibly impressive. This game and its modding community obviously have some legs.

Check out the mod forums, as you may find quite a bit of variation for your continued Civ enjoyment.

AI player is still willing to pay huge lumps of gold for the tech it is about to discover in one, or any number of turns.
Another strange event was in early game when Gilgamesh offered me peace treaty without declaring war first.
I have not played CIV since 2006 so I am not sure what to think of it. I also have BULL installed, maybe its the culprit?
I am forcing myself not to exploit those poor SODs, except Tokugava:).

It wouldn't be BULL that does that. BULL is also included in Better BAT AI so the game would ignore the BULL DLL in the assets directory.

Better AI still has a couple of hiccups that jdog and Fuyu haven't addressed. I suspect that you've run into one or two. I saw that Fuyu answered you in his Better BUG AI thread. I defer to his judgement on this one. ;)
 
I've noticed a new hiccup with Better Bat that occurred after I downloaded and installed the patch that fixes the draw issue. Since then, when I have a group of units, say 3 privateers, and I use them to attack another ship they (because they have won) simply overrun it, the "victory horn" sounds and its all over. No battle is shown, though damage has been registered to one of my privateers. I have also noticed this same problem with my cavalry units. I have two moving as a group, I hit a barbarian axman and the same thing, my units move into that square, one registers damage and the horn sounds, but the battle is not shown. However, if it is a single unit the battle is shown (or if I ungroup the units before I attack)
Anyone else encounter this?
 
Do you have animations/battles on or off? And to answer your question from my end, nope. But I don't have battles on either.

As for the peace treaty: If the AI wants 10 turns forced peace, let it? Assuming that is what would happen if you took that offer, it's been a while since I last played.
The amount of money an AI player pays for tech should be closely related to the number of beakers it takes to finish it. If not, that would be a major bug that I'd need to fix. (I'm hoping it's not.) If you still have a savegame, try going into debug mode, you should be able to find out how many beakers were left on that research. beakers : gold should be ~ 1:1, or maybe a bit more gold if the AI is friendly and really wants that tech.

Btw is that PLE issue BAT-only or is that something I need to fix too?

The PLE thing was my mistake. I accidentally added it when I was adding platyping's specialist stacker. I put a return statement in the wrong place which caused the game not to handle the PLE icon clicks, or the BUG icon click. It was in the "HandleInput" method in CvMainInterface.py, if you're curious. I didn't notice it because I don't use PLE.

i solved changing the language: italian -> english...

i have a different problem about the mod stuff :P now
i dont know how use all the icons and commands in the cities...: like the orange arrow, the white/red foot, etc...
i dont know how wake up some units in the cities..

i'm stopping here i'm probably off topic :P

I don't know if this is the right place for requests, but I'd love to have an option to generate autosaves at the end of each turn rather than the beginning. I'm always forgetting one little errand at the end of a long meticulous turn :).

I'm glad that you're enjoying it! Unfortunately, I can't do anything about your request. I think that's part of the game engine that no one has access to. :(
