I'm Roman, wouldn't have it any other way. I live on the continent of pure hell. To my immediate north, I have the babylonians, to my north-west the once mighty carthaganians, to my immediate south the really wimpy and whiny ottoman empire. Those are my neighbours. I own three cities far far north, which were taken in the great war of 1430 against the mongol empire....those three cities have be completely surrounded by the babylonians in they're ongoing raids and conquests of the feeble mongols. I can't develop those three cites due to poor resources and lack of food. But MY army maintains the peace in the cities.
Its now 1808, War has erupted majorly all over the continent, most of the battles right in my backyard. The Blood-thirsty babylonians have attacked the carthaganins, declared war against the mongols again and are now attacking the ottomans. My Brief and very unproductive war against the Persias (Southwest of carthage, not connected to me) ended with a MPP and a delcareation of war against carthage(for the price of Infantry tech), I've secured peace and MPP from the babylonians at the price of war with the ottomans, and I've regained the friendship of the babylonians by delcaring war against the mongols.
My troops in Carthage are totally inadequate for the city defenses so a long and very perilous journey to the sea where galleons wait to transport them to another army north of carthage. My troops in the ottoman empire are sweeping the countryside of enemy units, but stand firm and unable to attack the cities themselves. My 14 century-era army is advancing way behind the babylonian army too late to attack and conqueor more land for me in the north. And in the middle....I have completly surrounded and immobolized a huge babylonian army that crossed my territory back in the 17th. I"m washed up, I have no real plan of attach except amassing huge numbers of infantry and artillery and advancing on each city one by one. The problem is one of my cities defected back to the ottoman empire, the treachorous dogs must be the first to fall beneath my banners and steel, but the disease is spreading, cities are in revolt after soo many long years of constant war. I must quickly conqueor the empire of the ottomans and move the large portion of my southern army straight into the heartland of carthage. Before my lovely allies the babylonians get too greedy in their quest for rule.
