Who will be making the maps? And will they continue the WOTMs?
that's something I posted my poll to figure out...if pretty much everyone has BtS, then there's no reason to continue with the WOTM, it can be replaced with the BTSOTM.
I'd love to have 3 XOTMs, but I'm not sure we can ask for 3 full-fledged XOTMs per month from our wonderful staff. Especially when they still have COTMs and C3COTMs to make as well.

Could the WOTM submissions be lengthened to 1.5 months instead of 1 month, or to a different time interval? That way every 3 months there would be 2 WOTM's, 3 BTSOTM, and 3 GOTM. It wouldn't eliminate WOTM (I think warlords is distinct enough from BTS) but would lighten the load without doing some sort of rotation between Vanilla and Warlords.

The question that may need solution is how to combine the different games in global rankings.
One approach would be to keep one game monthly, rotate the other two every other month. Global is then best of two each time. And since vanilla is the one all must have, might keep that as the one each month, so all have a shot at a scoring submission each month.
The other approach would be to have each game run every 6 weeks: 1/1 vanilla, 1/15 warlords, 2/1 Bts, 2/15 vanilla, etc. Submission date might even be extended to six weeks in that case.
Then must decide if best of two or best of three is the way to do the global ranking after that.

Perhaps the new XP is also simultaneous call for CFC staff expansion?

GOTM is my favourite part of civfanatics and civ in general, ever since stumbling upon Balbes, Obormot and others' posts in WOTM07 (persia, immortal) and understanding just how many different strategies are possible in this game, and how much I still had to learn!
I am now enjoying BtS as well - I look forward to the first BOTM!!!
My thoughts on implementation would be a six week cycle, with GOTM / WOTM / BOTM every two weeks (more often than that is probably too ambitious for most) since that is guaranteed to include everyone. Though I personally enjoy WOTM more - the vanilla AI just seems weak these days.
Gotta love the BtS AI though - protect those coatal cities!!!

I am new to the GOTM, just played GOTM 20 and might finish GOTM 21 as well. I really love the idea and am thankfull to the people who put it together.
Unfortnately if it will continue to take so long to get results (for GOTM 20) or the final discussion (for GOTM 21) I might just stop with GOTM again. I mean the whole point of it is to compare strategies and results, and if it takes a few weeks to get the option to look at other peoples replays etc then ... :-(.
To clarify what I mean: While the GOTM 21 in itself didnt seem that interesting to me, I played to the year 1000 so that I could read the first spoiler, I was really looking forward to it. Now that there is no final spoiler I might not finish the game, since there is less initiative. See?
So my suggestion for a BTS-GOTM would be to **not** start one in the next months until there are enough people on the GOTM-staff so that we get results faster. Otherwise the risk of losing new players again is very high.

I think the large wait time between first and final spoiler for GOTM 21 and the long wait time for the results and congrats of GOTM 20 are not the norm. In my short experience the turn around times have been quite short. I think one of the moderators has been on vacation and ainwood has been working both GOTM and WOTM, plus BTS coming out has probably kept the staff busy. Don't give up hope yet!

It hasn't been gyathaar on-leave that has caused problems - its been 'real life' getting in the way.
Re BTS GOTM, there are persistant rumours of an imminent patch (including a post by Alexman somewhere?) Given the 'issues' with BTS, we prefer to wait until the patch is out.

I agree. Im very anxious to get playing the BOTM (even tho i submit only 1 of 20 games while playing almost every one, lazy me, only play the starts mostly), but as it stands now, am unable to participate, because of the 3.03 crashing every minute or so.
If theres a patch soon, better wait a while. I hear theres lots of people who are having trouble with the 3.03 patchs stability.

Just uninstall 3.03 and reinstall 3.02.
But the GOTM is waiting for 3.XX which will have many significant changes.
from what I've heard, the 3.03 HOF mod fixes most of the bugs that 3.03 has.
everyone should note though, if downloading the HOF mod for BtS, that for some reason BlueMarble will interfere with it and crash the game. You'll need to either uninstall BlueEarth, or delete your entire My Games/Beyond the Sword folder, in which case BlueMarble will continue to work for Vanilla and Warlords, but not BtS.
I'm not sure if that has been fixed since the 3.02 HOF mod, but I doubt it since there haven't been many reports of it.
