Hi,

im german and we play this mod in our kind of SG´s. Since tomorrow i got windows vista on my pc. If i run warlords 2.08 with the mod, the following error message appears:

Runtime error!

Programm:C:\Games\Warlords\Civ$Warlords.exe.

This application requested the Runtime to terminate it in a usual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information.

I have tried to install some different versions and also tried to play it as a fix mod or temporary mod. Nothing changes. In every kind of way i tried, the message always appears.
I hope you can help me, im confused. :confused:
Thank you. ;)

I'm no expert on Blake's Mod or Vista, but my guess is this error is a result of new Vista security and the way Civ 4 handles loading a Mod by restarting Civ. I'd imagine this situation isn't specific to Blake's mod. Try double clicking the game save instead of loading the Mod after starting Warlords. That may just start Civ 4 with the mod loaded avoiding this error.

I'd report this in the Warlords or Civ 4 bug forum.

Good luck!

It's not blake's mod. I have it running on Vista.

If it is to do with the restarting thing, try going to your civ4.ini file and setting Blake's to the default mod.

Thanks for your help i try it your way. But thats not working on my pc. :(

I too have Vista and don't have a problem running this mod either by loading it via the main menu or placing it in custom assets. Did you try placing it in custom assets to see if that works?

Did you upgrade to Vista? I had upgraded to Vista and could not get the game to work initially. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the game, which solved my problems.

Really?
Please, can u tell me what i have to do in the exactly way, that it works on my pc? Thank you Cymru. :goodjob:

It is only an idea, but here is how to do it:

Go to Sid Meier's Civilization IV\Warlords\_Civ4Config

_Civ4Config is a shortcut to CivilizationIV.ini which is stored somewhere else.

Go to

: Specify a mod folder ...
Mod = 0

Change that to Mod = Mods\BetterAI

(I assume that is where you keep betterAI mod).

Then when the game loads it should load straight to BetterAI.

Just making sure.. have you patched warlords to 2.08 after reinstalling?
You would probably get that kind of crash if you try to run on unpatched warlords

edit: CivIV and Warlords runs perfect without the mod.

Thank you, but it doesnt works for me.
I have change the config file like this:

; Specify a Mod folder (Mods\BetterAI), '0' for none
Mod = 0

Its that what u meant?

@all
I have updated my Warlords with the 2.08 patch, before i installed the AI mod. And my vista was pre-installed on my brandnew pc. I never updated this from XP to vista. Vista is also updated with the latest releases.

edit: CIV IV and Warlords runs perfekt without the mod.

There are only two things I can think of you trying.

The first are you running Civ in compatibility mode? If not then I would try that for XP.

The second I would try a few of the older Better AI releases that are on SourceForge just to see if you can get something working.

Have you tried any other mods out there with Vista? If so do those work?

Messias:

No, that is not right. I mean like this:

; Specify a Mod folder (Mods\Mesopotamia), '0' for none
Mod = Mods\BetterAI

the top line which starts with ; is a comment,, it is ignored by Civ4. The 2nd line is what is read by the game.

I have tried some older versions of Blake. Buts that doesnt work.

What did u mean with compatibility mode? I this installed in Civ IV? Where can i run this in the Menu options?

Thanks zarakand

Sounds good, but this doesnt works for me too.
If you have another idea to solve the problem, please let me knew this. ;)

To run in compatibility mode click on the shortcut for Warlords. Note not from the Vista game menu, this option does not appear there. If you don't have a shortcut other than the Games folder in Vista just go where the file is located.
Then right click on it select properties. From the window that pops up click on the compatibility tap, and select Windows XP service pack 2. Then try launching after that.

If that doesn't work I have no more ideas sorry.

Hi Forn. In the meantime, i solve the Problem.
Its not a Vista prob. I updated my WL with the WL update mode. This mode updated my WL only to version 2.00 not 2.08.
I reinstalled the patch 2.08 manually. After that, Blake works fine.

I hope u can solve it like this. ;)
