Blank screen after intro video

This is driving me crazy, installed from DVD, created Steam and everything OK. Intro video plays then blank screen, mouse pointer moves, music plays but nothing else.

Tried in DX9 and 11, tried disabling intro, just goes straight to blank screen. Have latest drivers etc, changed resolution down, and back, DXDIAG reports everything OK

Any ideas - I've played Civ since version 1 and this is just ridiculous.

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.50GHz
6Gb RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
NVIDIA GeForce GT 220

How long do you wait? Because the game is loading data in the background.
Try to alt+tab to windows and back, maybe it will then respond.

Gave up after about 15 mins

Switched off fullscreen and hey presto - it worked

Just now need to figure out how to play

On a side note, could you please post your DXDIAG so we can debug what is happening on full-screen? Also, what was your native desktop resolution?

tried different options initially, running DX 9 version allows fullscreen using the in-game options, DX11 allows it but screen doesnt adjst properly so is essentially useless

Same problem here aswell. Any news on how to solve this problem? I can play in windowed mode for now, but it´d be nice to be able to play fullscreen in a near future.

I've been able to play the game in full screen but only after hitting Ctrl Alt Delete and then choosing Task Manager-Applications. I select Civ 5 in the list. I usually have to do this several times but sooner or later I play the game in full screen.

The game allows you to select full screen in the options

You need to change the graphicssettings ini file - fullscreen to 1 from 0 first

No need to disable anything. Aero just messes with it for some reason so turn it off
