So I'm trying to make units for my mod, but, no matter what i do, what version, or patch sort of thing i install, my blender program wont take NIF files. Are there any solutions to this? Am I not doing something right?

Ok, but now I can't see my file I'm editing, like info, or models of the buildings.. and how do I edit..?

What means you can't see it? I mean...can you really not see anything?
Screenshot? Might be necessary to check the console for errors.

No real idea about the editing, but I think there's quite some stuff covered in Ekmek's LH guide.

I mean, thers only a few editing tools on screen, no model, no 3d... I'm not sure how to take computer screenshots..

Uh, sorry for putting it this way, especially if i am mistaken - but my feeling is, your problem is not with Civ4 modeling in the first place. Do you know how to use Blender?
A 3D modeling software can be a bit irritating at first, and it's hard to explain in a few quick forum posts - especially when you can't specify the exact problem.

Try looking here: http://www.blender.org/education-help/tutorials/
You don't need much to get started - modelling buildings is a good start to learn and so after just a few beginner chapters you will notice, that you manage to produce some results. (getting started + the interface tutorials and maybe one simple modeling example - there was a pencil or shipping container tutorial there somewhere).
However at least some familiarity with the programs interface and the basics of its usage is needed to get started.

Good advice. The interface can really be awful .

I mean, thers only a few editing tools on screen, no model, no 3d...

Might be that the imported model is just very small :dunno:.

I'm not sure how to take computer screenshots..

Hit the "print" key (to the right of F12), and then go to an image program (e.g. paint), and just paste it in there.

Yeah, I'm really just not good at editing stuff, its my first time.

First the before picture where im importing the NIF.

Thenm where I have imported it, and no model shows.

To me it looks like you are still in the importer interface, you will have to click "ok" before anything else happens. The import settings you need might depend on what you are working on, for buildings you can leave everything how it is. For units you will need to import bones and skin - i don't know the exact settings, but i think Ekmek and TheCoyote had tutorials on Blender here on the forums.

I pressed ok on buildings, and units, and this is what I got..:/ I'm really bad at this..

Have you tried to delete (or move) that box ? The building might actually be inside of it, due to scaling/size of the things.

Edit: Oh, and what building are you using ? for your first tries you should take some simple straight forward building from the game (like say Portuguese Feitoria fromBTS) - this way you can be sure, that no screwines is introduced by any unlucky choice of custom model.

Well, i see no error messages in your console screenshot, so it got to be there somewhere.
There should also be something like a listing of all the objects in the current scene (maybe hierarchy view), or a select by name function.

Another thing would be to try and change the settings for the scale slider in the importer screen. In your screenshot it shows 0.01 which is probably really-really tiny. Try different values, maybe something is going to change.
