Hello all
I just started a new Civ BNW Deity let's play as Babylon and thought I would share it in case someone is interested to see a game play with my setups.
The first episode is now out and I will be uploading new one daily or almost daily.

Game setup:

Babylon - Nebuchadnezzar II
Difficulty: Deity
Game pace: Standard
Map type: Earth
Size: Large (10 players, 20 city states)
No mods

All victory types allowed except time
Quick combat
Other civs are random
Victory type I'm going for: science (obvious? yes)

Nice start. While that jungle is good to have for science, you might consider clearing some of those hills between Babylon and Akkad to build mines for production.

I would also try to befriend Wellington and later Ormus before other City States around Babylon, to get bonus for food production. There should be decent amount of gold from trade post for gifts and you can never have enough food for growth. :)

Thanks for the tips!
I agree getting friends/allies with those city states around me, not only for bonuses but for having defense/buffer zone as well. I'm gonna go tradition/patronage/rationalism so that should work well having at least couple of allies. I already know from my previous games that I will lack culture in this so at least one cultured city state ally is also nice.

Not too sure about cutting down any jungle tiles though, at least not yet. I would like to see how badly my cities will lack production if I don't, because the food/science/money combo from trading posts is too tempting. But that is good point though, production IS important as well. I'm already some episodes ahead of you, so reacting to suggestions might not be possible (if the situation has changed) or they will delay, sorry about that but suggestions will help in future games! So those are really appreciated. :)
I really wanted to see will this game be total disaster or at least a decent succes if not win before starting to post.. And I like to keep episodes ready for uploading in case in some days I cannot record at all so that people don't have to wait days and days for the next one.

Ok, since you go patronage you should be able to grab most of the city states as allies, as long as Alexander doesn't pop up from some corner of the world to ruin your day, or rest of the AI:s don't get upset because Babylon takes all the city states and thus send in carpet of doom.

I don't usually play with this approach, but there is decent amounts of production from buildings and specialists I guess. You probably want to use trade routes mostly to get gold from sea trade routes, but there is also one source of production (in case you need it by endgame to build spaceship parts) by sending production caravan from each city to all of the rest.

EDIT: Episode 2, that settler was like watching train crash in slow-motion (much like the great person in 1st episode, but there was no barbarians around to take it). Always protect those. :D
TIP: When looking for AI:s luxuries etc, you can save time by clicking "diplomacy overview" in diplomacy. There is a screen that shows all the AI civs and City States in one screen + the stuff they are producing.

Well, that Byzantium is taking its time to found its city in Southern Africa. I'm almost hoping it lost its settler to barbarians because if it founds its city near to you it might get nervous and you get more people on the border with pointy sticks. ;)

You might want to place a unit on those hills just west from Jerusalem as a scout. Then you can have early warning, if (or when) Theodora decides to desire Babylonian cities. Preferably a fast unit, so it can withdraw if needed and also scout more land, if Theodora hits the fan with Greek fire.

Of the other civilizations Denmark can also become a nuisance. It likes to build its cities on coast and on this difficulty level it can just go crazy with that and pepper rest of the African continent with its Viking colonies for rest of the game. But then again, it has Shaka in eastern border so you have a potential ally there or maybe you can just throw some gold at him for attacking Denmark, so you dont need to bother with diplomatic damage from allying with Zulus.
