all right, I give it up, I really don't know why so many people are againt the idea, since all I'm reading is :"we all beat the AI a lot earlier" and "this never happens to me"..
thx willbill for the only real arguments
aeldrik:
I am with you and that Bombers should come with advanced flight.
I also did not read all the posts in this thread but the ones I did seem to be missing Aeldrik's point. He is not complaining that he is behind in techs or that the AI is "bombing him back to the stone age." I am sure he would be doing the same if the tables were turned. What he is saying is that in the case of bombers, one civ - in this case the AI, has a weapon that has no defense, just because he reached flight first. When flight is reached, civs should be able to build fighters, which do have some bombardment factor. Once advanced flight is reached, then bombers become available. If this was the case, than once the AI reached advanced flight and started bombarding Aeldrik Land, he would at least have some protections, providing he has reached flight.
In regards to the progression of military aircraft.
Recon Aircraft came first, mostly in the form of anchored ballons.
Someone finnaly had the idea to try to eliminate the ballons by shooting at them. First with hand guns and then they added machine guns after they figured out how to avoid shooting their propellers off.
Soon, someone had the idea of dropping grenades from the fighters onto the ground troops below and the "bomber" was born.
