bombers r uselss

carriers not carrying bomber I can understand, but they should carry a lot more fighters, at least 6 or 7. And transport boats carrying only 4 units are ridiculous too, their capacity is only 1 larger than a galleon.

There is no more missles in this game. ICBMs cannot be moved I think. And as for rebasing, I don't think you need to rebase within the grid. I have rebased my bombers outside of the grid, and they worked just fine.
Artillaries are now completely useless. it is good to sacrifice some of them to destroy enmey SODs, but other than that, they are completely lame.

There's no TACTICAL NUKES that I can put on my CARRIERS??? Are you kidding me? This is not realistic at all. hehe What about Nuclear Subs, they are still in the game and can carry Tatical Nukes correct? ;)

There is no tactical nuke, no nuclear sub and no cruise missle. so the answer to all of your questions are: NO.

Assuming the AI is bright enough to coordinate multiple transports (a skill it notoriously lacked in CivIII) I think that sounds like a good change. :)

For Heavens sake WHY? Damn glad I haven't reached modern age then I woulda been pissed days ago. lol Man I loved my Tactical Nukes, I used to load them up on anything an everything and just before launching into space I would lauch every tactical nuke from every nuclear sub and carrier and land based ICBM's I had. This isn't good news for the modern age of play. (cry)

The AI's ability to fight a war, especially a war that involves crushing enemies cross the ocean is still lacking. I have seem an AI with a carrier, but it was destroyed by me while anchored in a city, but I have never seem an AI that can handle Normandy kind of landing, they only used 1 transport ship at a time.

I like how the game has been streamlined, a lot of fat has been cut, and that's all well and good, but the units are pretty barebones.

I was hoping this might finally have been the CIV game that actually included useful functions for the Air Force and Navy, but, alas, it's still an Army game.

I'm sure we can mod in some of the sorely missing units, but I worry that the game might not support some units, like cruise missiles or tactical nuclear weapons. I'm not sure if there are any abilities we can toggle on that will reproduce their effect.

This is the very reason I only play on Pangea maps anymore. I've never seen the AI do anything well at sea, from invasion to merely putting out a decent fleet to combat my own huge fleet which in CIV III I used to just pulverize the coastal squares cause I had nothing to fear.

It is very useful. They do collateral damage to all units, which is very useful to easily take a city. You think the USA flew their bombers back and forth from Miami to Iraq? Also a runway on a carrier is way too short for a bomber to take off, so it makes sense that it isn't possible.

Acually, we were bombing Iraq from bases in MO. In flight refuel FTW.

I have a question: if you bomb an enemy city with a fighter and it was intercepted by enemy fighter, do they dog fight or does your fighters gets automatically damaged?

Well, AI has used 2 or 3 transports to invade me, and decent escorts for those too, but it should have used less obsolete units in its invasion force.

The problem with the AI is that it doesn't have a strategic goal. I remember back when they were developing civ3, Soren Johnson said something like they have 2 layers of AI, the higher layer takes care of strategic planning, the lower layer take care of actually carrying out the strategies.
This is not true. The AI just fight war as it goes, never had any precise idea or strategy. They don't think like: "In this phase of attack, I will seize city A, B and C. Then I will regroup and take city D, E and F."
The AI just drop some obselete units on you and hope it gets lucky.
