BOTM 166: Father Ragnus ... First Spoiler

Use this thread to tell us what happened in your game, up to 1AD! How did you cope with being surrounded by the flood-plain ice? Did you grab that coastal gold for your capital or save it for a 2nd city? Have you met anyone? Did you give them peaceful or violent Xmas pressies?

Immortal is above my abilities, but since a Challenger save wasn't offered, I gave this a try, hoping Father Ragnus had enough Christmas presents to make this doable. I settled 1W, for the fish and deer. My second city went onto the fur, to make use of that watery silver mine.

By 1 AD, I have a total of six cites (including one captured from barbs) and I've met four AI. I'm doing well with food and commerce, but I'm awfully short of hammers! Father Ragnus has to rely heavily on the whip to make up for that deficit.

I also settled 1W and managed to expand to 11 cities, 44 pop, 8 workers who have been cottaging a lot, besides connecting the rather resource rich lands. I REXed quickly enough to have the Incans with just 3 mainland cities, which I hope to conquer in the early ADs through elepults, as of 1AD starting to build up an army. Tech is up to literature, construction, currency and MC, hope to trade for CoL and calendar soon. Time nor hammers to have bothered about any wonders. Not sure what VC to go for yet.
