I took the Deity save as usual, and as usual I will struggle mightily and then probably give up when it becomes apparent I will lose. Like everyone, I would suppose, I settled in place, and aimed for the GLH, which I got in 1440 BC. Oracle went 1320, Colossus 825, Mids 800, and I didn't even try for any of them. At 1AD I have a pathetic 8 cities and 29 pop; 4 of them are island cities so at least I get the extra internal trading route commerce when the AI cities are used up. I've met 5 AIs and nearly have circumnav.

Rome is first in score with 1032, me 489, and Ragnar is last with 481. He's in a long losing war with Rome and I assume he will be vassalled at some point. Everyone has 8+/- 2 cities, but it looks like I have much more room for continued expansion than the others, which gives me false hope. The land is pretty nice, but not a lot of happiness resources in our neck of the woods. I'm aiming for those sweet Dutch dikes and then will probably try for Space peacefully or, if given the chance, not. On Archipelago maps we have a fighting chance against Deity AI, and I'm grimly determined to have fun.

@Xcalibrator
Thanks for the reminder!! :D
I played this about when it was posted, but it have been on ice since then (I'm up at T120-T130 somewhere now)
But here is to T116 (forgot to take a save 1AD.)
Congrats at securing GLH, it's almost a must on these maps. :)

Spoiler :

It was a real nail-biter when building GLH, pain and agony every time I pressed "end turn" and I almost got a heart attack when someone finished the oracle. :D

Tried my best to spread like wildfire. Playing with GLH is almost like playing with cheatmode on. :) I think only the last few cities I settled actually started to cost commerce per turn, but soon they will contribute too.
And I won't stop expanding untill every spot is taken except for perhaps some of the worst filler spots.

One AI unknown, and it's some competent one as many wonders have been built there.
But winning lib and taking something juicy is probably possible.
Perhaps one should take advantage of the UU somehow, but I don't really know how.
Warfare is certainly possible, but likely after astro and with rifles/cannons or something like that.

Put the game on hold because I couldn't make up my mind on how to proceed after the initial mad expansion. :)

I took the Monarch save. I settled in place, built the GLH, and at 1 AD I have five cities and I'm working on building the Pyramids. My fifth city went on the stone on an island to the east, to speed up that wonder.

I've only met Boudica, so I can't say what's happening in the rest of the world.

I played the Deity save.
Seeing the corn, I opted for Worker first; techs were Hunting-Mining-BW.
After that, a beeline for GLH which was...
Spoiler GLH :

whipped for 2 pop in 1760BC.

Additionally I had a 2nd city and 3 work boats.

After that, it felt like a straight production optimization problem. So much so that I didn't really explore as quickly as I could have, and had to wait a long time for tech trades.

By 1AD I have 9 cities and a settler and 33 pop, and have met all except the blue civ and the one which is technically reachable with galleys but I'd be surprised if anyone did.
I also have a Great Merchant skulking in Celtic seas.

Spoiler Empire at 1AD :

The plan is to continue expanding, beeline Steam Power for Dikes, (holding off on triggering any golden ages before then), and then find a juicy target for my cannons.

Here are the notes I took at 1AD:
- contender save
- surprised by early Roman circumnavigation (should have refused open borders?)
- 3 civs met (Julius, Ragnar, Boudica)
- could build TGL (Edit: "the GLH" actually), Oracle and Colossus

Thanks to the GOTM Staff!
