I remember thinking before the game "do not forget about cataphracts!", so of course, I totally forgot about them and went with cuirs and later some cavs to end up with domination.

Post 1AD I was somewhat annoyed missing out on the Pyramids and especially the Great Library, more so when I found out that Monty had built the latter, while in isolation (a barb city on the southern tip of the northern island seems to have prevented contact between him and HRE/Germany for some time)! That must've been a first, at least for me. At least he hadn't followed suit with Music, so got the GA at least.

Anyway, I declared again on the Ottomans, this time leaving him with 1 city to extract construction. Not long after Cyrus thought it a good idea to declare on me. Could defend easily and take one of his cities for peace. Libbed astronomy and then went with cuirs, rather than cataphracts some centuries earlier, to capture all of Persia and the remaing hold out of his Ottoman vassal. Shipped everything over and vassaled Frederick with 1 city left and the HRE as soon as he would bend the knee. Started invading the Aztecs and got 2 cities when I hit domination.

A ± flawless religious victory. Often I miss something and ruin a couple of vote rounds, this time it was first time right.
Minor critical point maybe that I decided as late as the early AD's to go for it, I missed completing the AP myself, Huayana did. To be secured of a decent victory I kept going towards MassMedia after Astronomy, but that turned out not necessary. Last turn I was on Physics but libbed Communism instead. I didn't run any golden age.

Not a single war in this game, not among the AI either.
For me that doesn't mean it's boring, I like microing.

After finally researching construction in 75 BC, my catapults allowed my war against Suleiman to progress, and I conquered all of the Ottoman cities by 600 AD.

I captured some barb cities in the south, then expanded onto the island, so I had more land and pop than the AIs, but my neighbors were doing better techwise. Cyrus signed a defense pact with me in 1340. I was preparing for a war against HC, when he peace-vassaled to Cyrus in 1450. :cringe: I didn't want to fight both my neighbors at once, but the other AI were a long way away. As I researched towards steel to build cannon, I converted to Buddhism (HC had built the AP) and spread that religion enough to take over the AP Resident's seat. Now I wouldn't have to worry about pesky votes.

HC relieved my worries by renouncing his peace-vassalage in 1600! :D Immediately I begged a peace treaty with Cyrus (he had no gold, so I asked for and received a map) and declared against HC. He already had rifles and cavalry against my cataphracts and cannon, but he didn't have enough of them. I captured three cities, including his capital which had a bunch of wonders, and accepted his capitulation in 1645.

In a short while, I also had rifles, and I attached Cyrus in 1705. I had to take six of his cities, with another bunch of wonders, before he bent the knee in 1770. Meanwhile, Charlemagne and Monty had been fighting a war. Monty capitulated to Charley in 1775, even though no cities had changed hands!

I had been late to astronomy (even though I got the circumnavigation bonus). Now I built an invasion fleet and sent my army across the seas. After demanding 1 gold from Charlemagne, I attacked Frederick in 1806. He capitulated in 1820, after losing three cities, including Berlin.

War with Charlemagne and Monty followed in 1826, as soon as our peace treaty expired. I captured two HRE cities, Monty broke free from Charlemagne, and then Charlemagne capitulated to me, giving me a domination victory in 1834.

As it happens, I don't remember what happened before 1AD (not Ante Diaspora) so I just say something here.
"Something here."
Also I settled 1E of initial settler position.Explored some and found we have neighbours. HC founded Butthead-ism while somewhere the Aztecs discovered polyamor... polytheism. Charly got Confusion and Freddy got confused too. I decided to take some real estate before HC and Sully could take them. North I founded a city that took both fishes. I had discovered stone in the west so I expanded all the way across the continent. HC eventually only founded 4 cities but built wonders like... an Ozymandias? I managed to build the ancient fusion reactor casing that people called Pyramids. However I had overlooked the south where Cyric... no Cyrus expanded with some cause for concern. Meanwhile the numerous cities ate my income. Everyone on my continent was into Buttheadism so I joined too. (I would have preferred Beavism.)

I missed many wonders and my tech rate was zero for a long while. So I built cottages. Eventually cottages and representation allowed me to slowly catch up while keeping ahead of others in the land grabbing. I saved a GE to rush the vital Cathedral wonder even though I wasn't the first to discover music.I never got a single quest and very few events. A few events destroyed some buildings in cities. In the late game the Inca did the Chinese thing and developed a fatal flu. Some weddings helped keep buttheads across the borders happy. HC build the AP and my greater population guaranteed me the residency. After I found the other civs I tried spreading buttheadism there but Monty never opened borders and was in theocracy most of the time too.

Overseas Monty attached Charly who was joined by Freddy. Monty vassaled to Charly and later Freddy peace-vassaled Charly too for a while. My continent was at peace with multiple MPP's. Then Charly invaded Sully who had a MPP with me. I was at war and tried to find where the invasion had taken place. Eventually I found the fight in the far north. Charly took one tundra port city with mainly cavalry, trebs, cannon and some grens. Sully sent a stack of riflemen and shot most of Charly's horsies. Then my infantry arrived to take the city. After that there was little excitement. My navy sunk what little Charly tried to send. When Charly too got destroyers I decided to make peace and got around 80 gold for it. Sully continued war and I got the chance to donate a strategic resource, horses were the only available thing and I had several extras. Eventually war ended and Sully peace vassaled to me. I was just producing tanks to take the annoingly cultural HC when he peace vassaled Cyric. I decided I was too close to cultural to delay it with a major war so it was up culture eventually to 100% while sabotaging HC. A few cities flipped to me, cultural border was just south of Sully's capital by the end. I didn't finish the space elevator and didn't even start the Apollo program. (I wish they had a Starbuck program to make after Apollo...)
I'll probably get a shield for my troubles.
