I tried to install Windows simulator on my Mac, but not very successfully. Might be time to be a Windows gaming laptop or desktop. Where can I find current instruction of what modifications to make to Civ on Windows to be GOTM eligible? I remember it was not easy on Mac.

If it's a dvd version, you basically just patch it up to date, install the Buffy mod, and then set the executable to always run as an administrator by default. I don't have detailed instructions to hand on how to do that though.

I am using Steam. One of the reason I was hesitant to switch to Windows I remember it took me long while to fulfill GOTM requirement on Mac ...

In principle it's the same thing on Steam: Just make sure you have patched to the latest version, installed Buffy, and set the executable to run with administrator privileges. However, I've only ever had the DVD version so have no experience of actually getting it to work on Steam, which means I'm generally not able to advise about the specifics of each step.

I think in the meantime I will play older games, I see that Mac saves were available for games even from a couple months ago.

I followed the instructions on the HOF website, there are two sets of instructions one to get the Steam version to work and one for Windows permissions. It worked for me on win 10 (old computer) and 11.

With steam you need to switch to the Beta version "original_release...."

Switch the BTS exe to compatibility mode for "Win 7" works best and always run the game from the exe.

And follow the HOF fixes on the HOF site for BUFFY
