Had I researched BW earlier I would have settled this key place sooner.
I founded 3rd city T57, 1720BC, horribly late.

I won't say how late I consider your date, cause I'm a polite person, but my date is 15% worst than yours

So can we conclude that your mistake was more related to the tech path and not the choice of where to put the capital...?

Btw. I dont think you could get a city on the copper/fish island much sooner than T50. Certainly not as a 3rd city. Don't know if T57 is so horribly late. I'm sure all games suffered from the poor starting island.

I got a city the copper/fish island by T51 (1960 BC) as my 3rd city, I imagine you could get one there before that as a 2nd city, but you might have to sacrifice some tech to get sailing early enough.

Where did you settle? Why?
What were your first 3 technologies researched? Why?
What were your first 4 city builds?
Did you prioritize any particular tile improvements? Which ones?


I settled 1E, no particular reason, just figured it would be best.

Polytheism->Fishing->Mining->Masonry

Poor choices, especially the first. Got beaten to the religion, and I should have gone for BW earlier. I thought I'd focus on religion and Wonders this game, which

Settler>Warrior(NF)>Work Boat>Worker

Second city: Worker first

I really wanted a second city, and fast. I had some weird thought we'd be on a tiny island with another civ and either way, I wanted to expand quickly.

I wanted to get stone fast for the wonder building, and got the Great Wall. Very few other wonders came to me though...

How are things going?
What were your goals to this point, and did you acheive them?
Have you come up with any creative ideas or strategies specific to this game?

Other than that, I had 5 cities in 1AD, one off starting island. My goal was to be at war by this time, or something similar. That did not quite happen. I tend to focus more on just winning, so I have no real plan or anything. I just thought I'd be able to win quickly or something similar. Even though my goal was wonders, I managed only to snag TGL and nothing else. I could tell it was going to be a long game ^^

Also, my computer has managed to crash twice during my playthrough. I thought Buffy auto-saved on exit, but I couldn't seem to find the right saves then. I submitted, but I'd understand if I were DQed.
