OK what am I missing here? Obormot's first post seem very similar to the predator challenge of Civ3. Nothing is wrong with that. I do not read a parallel challenge beyond what was done in Civ3 Predator Challenge. All this mean is that the top players want to challenge each others for braging rights. That is cool and does not require a new gauntlet award.
I do not recall Civ3 having a speacial award for the Predator Challenge. The awards should remain as it is; as such, regardless of either a Contender or Challenger player, the player who have the fastest VC condition get the award. Is it not the whole idea of a the Challenger save for players who are accomplished can find the needed challenge they need? What Obormot did is to officially announce it to the entire GOTM forum instead of only within the BOTM1 discussion. I am guessing he did so many people will see it.
On a different note, if other players want to maintain another award in place of the Cow, by all means lets make it the gold, or something unusual like the highest score at 0AD or 1000AD. Sort of a QSC award. Just chosing a cut off is going to be crazy.
Crap. I am getting off subject.
Happy, healthy and Prosperous 2008 everyone.
