bread thread

Why is it, that the same overpowered suggestion is being put forth again and again?

:crazyeye:

Where have you all gone?

Who dropped that ball?

[deep sigh]

any ole bakery building is simple, and kinda adds to the game and is kinda just some extra free food. I would much rather see a Mill or some other food producing building, which, while present, (plus Sanitation tech prereq maybe?) you can build food just like you build wealth, beakers, and culture. 50% of hammer production turns into food. 75% conversion for expansive players. Maybe a relatively low hammer cost for the building, the same or slightly less than a granary. This signifies a city growing on expansion of the purest form, availability of food for the masses. Kind of like the Roman Bread and Circus, only I dont think this should grant happy :p, they can get that from the gambling houses.

Still, being able to convert hammers into food at a 50% rate would be pretty nice. Wether to try and avert Blightastrophy, or growing new cities to their caps, or simply for the vamps, would be nice, maybe flavorful. Would it be op? I really dont know, but I dont think it would, especially available at Sanitation or Medicine, would require a bit of an investment.

Bakery: Requires Medicine. 160 hammers. Provides +1 food. Allows city to build food at a base 25% conversion rate
+10% to conversion rate with access to each of the following: banana, corn, sugar, and wheat. +15% for Fruit of Yggdrasil
+1 :) from Consumption
+1 :) from Wine

Expansive players build at double speed.

I like Traviathan's Idea ... and now for something completely different!

Mad Baker unit, available through an event in a city that has an alchemy lab and a bakery.
mad baker unit has 6 attack, 4 defense, cannibalize, 20% withdrawal, and gives units the "food" promo through combat. If someone is wounded by anyway, or withdraws from combat from the mad baker (or if the mad baker withdraws) the unit gains the food promo. food promo does NOTHING for the unit, except maybe subtract a strength point like the weak promo. Instead, it does something for the killer. It heals 50% health of the killer's unit upon death, and gives 5 food to the storage of the nearest city of the killer. essentially the unit is eaten. which would mean, not only does the mad baker get cannibalize, but if it takes more than one hit to kill its victim, it kills a victim with a food promotion, which heals the baker a further 50%, and adds 5 storage food to the nearest city.

The unit that kills the mad baker converts him to their cause ... therefore the baker can never truly die!!! only serve the master which has the greatest desire for breadly goodness! muahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahaaaaaaa

xDDD

but something like that (adding food to nearest town when unit dies in city range) is already in LeaderEnhanced for Orbis ... (Ngomele civilization)
