Here is a very brief History of the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine Empire):


AD 330: Roman emperor Constantine I makes his capital Constantinople, built on the older city of Byzantium.
(THIS FOUNDED THE EASTERN EMPIRE)

AD 412: Huge walls built Round Constantinople.

AD 527-65: Justinian I's reign. (He wanted to create a vast Christian Empire)

AD 674-78: Arabs besiege Constantinople but fail to take it.

AD 797-802: Reign of Irene (first Byzantine Empress).

AD 800: In the west Charlemagne (leader of the Franks) supported Pope Leo III in his efforts to rid Italy of babarian inavaders. The Pope invited Charlemagne to Rome and The Pope crowned Charlemagne the first ruler of the Holy Roman Empire, rejecting the empire in the East

AD 1054: Christian church in Constantinople breaks with the church in Rome.

AD 1071: Seljuk Turks defeat Byzantine army at Manzikert.

AD 1204: Crusaders sack Constantinople.

AD 1341-54: Civil War

AD 1453: Ottamen Turks capture Constantinople.
