alright so i bought the BtS expansion and i installed in onto my computer with no problems. then when i went to load it and play it, on the 4th loading section where it says "Init XML (uncached)" an endless number of error message pop-ups appear. ive tried doing things with the cache and downloading things to prevent these errors but nothings worked. im not sure what to do. please help

well theres 50+ of these error messages. ill post the first 3, maybe that can help:
1) Failed loading XML file xml/GlobalDefinesAlt.xml.
2) LoadXML call failed for xml/GlobalDefinesAlt.xml
Current XML files is: xml/GlobalDefines.xml
3) Failed Loading XML file xml/GlobalTypes.xml.
hopefully the first 3 messages can help you. if not i can post as many more as you need.

sorry - I was traveling for a few weeks right after my last post and thus lost this from sight 
is this happening just in BtS? what about Civ4 and Warlords (if you have that)?

Sorry to scoop up an old thread but i have this exact same problem.... fresh install and patched to 3.17. Can't start BtS.
I'm running windows vista 64-bit. tried running it as admin, same errors. it seems it can't load any of the xml files, only thing i can do to stop this is to kill the process.

did you try installing the 3.19 patch with admin rights?

I just installed 3.19 and I'm now receiving error messages. I installed as an admin and CivIV: BtS was working fine with 3.17 patch.
The stream of errors begin with this:
Tag: BONUS_WHEAT in Info class was incorrect
Current XML file is: xml\GameInfo/CIV4CorporationInfo.xml
If I click ok long enough, the error changes to a different folder and file like Misc/CIV4RouteInfos.xml

did you install the patch with admin rights? are you running the game with admin rights?
