[BtS] Rise of Mankind

I think I missed your point, What is inside it?

BTW High Elf Worker????

OH, Fantasy War. sorry

See you usually get to explore the temples and receive an amount of money per turn or a lump sum, or other stuff, thats what i mean.:p

ive been followin this mod for a good couple of months now and i have to say, does anyone else find that "xbeanerx" character REALLY irritating?

the 1st time i noticed him was a while back when he said he was takin loads of time of work (school more like) to play and that he was married, he also make repeated posts complaining about bug with no regard to how much work goes into making a mod such as this.

he made requests for hitler to be a leader, and the latest one bein he wants porn to be a tech??? im sure there are more ridiculous things he has said but ive not been readin post for while.

to be honest, he sounds about 12

Strategyonly,
Yeah, once I noticed it was from Fantasy War I knew what you meant. Thanks

I think he is just trying to be controversial. Get noticed and argued with. BTW as someone who lived in California for 20 years, I have never seen a Los Angeleno refer to it as 'cali'. From somewhere else most likely.

REPOST:

Well first time I tried RoM today. Usually a RFC mod user but lately RFC feels too damn scripted to my likings.

So being a fan and sole user of Earth maps I downloaded that one meant and designed for RoM.
Well it was quite an experience let me tell you. First off the mod is pretty damn good.

On a sour note I probably won't use it heading forward for the following reasons which perhaps people can shed some light on.

The Rom 18civ earth map is VERY slow like considerably slower than the RFC earth map and considering my computer is pretty decent 1GB Ram, 2.8Ghz Dual Core etc it shouldn't take 10 odd seconds for a turn to complete before i've even hit the modern era.

The other part which was both great and really disturbing at the same time I noticed that there was a LOT of fighting between the European powers and I thought wow this is cool very real world.
I also slowly started to notice it wasn't just isabella declares war on frederick and we all wait to see what happens 20 odd turns down the track.
Rather it was very surprising *groups* of countries that would simultaneously declare war on a target.
Like Rome, Spain, Germany would go declare war on Greece all at the same time and over time people would jump in on Greece's side. Pretty good but never seen that before its like the whole "Mr X will you help us by declaring war on the evil greeks?" And the computers seem to have agreed. But not seen it before.

What i DID however see was playing as England i hear warhorns only to find that no less than 4 civs all declared war on me in a single turn. The mod seems to mimick what went on in Europe quite well but it can be prone to the gang-bang effect.

And on a final note of query what gives with the various government, social etc options you can choose?
Like Its great to have tons of options I agree we need more than vanilla but whats with Hereditary Rule?
Why on EARTH would you use it over despotism when every military unit you've got is going to cost you +1 buck?

I had to ditch any option that said +1 military support. And I noticed there are quite a few options that have that penalty which begs the question why? With that penalty alone it pretty much makes them unusable.

A simple change from Hereditary rule back to Despot gave me 40 extra ducats a month. Thats not how it should work.

But aside from what I said above a very interesting mod. If anybody has some advice about the speed on that 18 mapper or anything else much appreciated.

Hi
I will like to see in this great mod the new inquisition mod.
is possible
remove other religions from a city is a great add-on i think
I am always hoping for new add-on for religions because the only lack that i feel in this great mod is the religion control.
i am playing the new 1.0 on the world map i play at immortal level with german and all goes fine i am in 1950.
I did some little modification to the Iresearch value and set it to 700,i know is a lot more higher now, but the technology now is well fitted with eras.
I tested it with various increase and 700 will do the best to have the right technology in late eras at my view and with slowed techs i have big battles withs lots of units :)
Thank again for the great fun, my next try will be with japan at deity.
Merry X'mas and Happy new Year

Hello, I started to play 1.0 version on my new PC. It runs like hell even on he biggest map. However the game crashes on October 1991. Is there some way to find out why?

RoM has crashed in the Industrial age the last 4 times I have played. I try different civs, map sizes and it has crashed always in the Industrial Age. I am moving on to play FFH2 and this mod will be rated by me as unuseable.

Zappara,

Just wanted to stop by and say that my son and I have been playing RoM1.0 over the Multiplayer lan and it's been a blast!

We are approaching 1894AD in the current game and it's been smooth sailing so far. :D We have been using Archeaopelago World, Large with 2 players vs 6 AI, Warlord level.

No problems have been encountered. We don't have Highend machines either. Mine is a PIV 2.4 with 1 GB of 400 DDR ram and his is a PIV 2.0 Celeron with 896MB of 266 DDR ram. We both use ATI Radeon 9550's with 256 Mb ram.

I reeeeaally love this mod and find that Plain 3.13 BtS is hard to go back to. Your techtree and the paths are well thought out, a Big thumbs up there. While a couple of the units are massive like Dreadnaught it doesn't hinder play at all. And the unit selections a way cool too.

Again Thank You for this wonderfull mod!

A Big Fan of Zappara

JosEPh :D

Looks like the massive type of game I'm eager to play! I installed v1.0,

However, my 2 starting units have no action box; can't fortify my warrior; my settler won't settle into a city. Needless to say, we're just roaming with no direction home... Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Mussbu,
This happened to me too and it was very easy to fix.... I read through the forum and people were talking about editing registry files and stuff, but all I had to do was update BtS to 3.13 and then it worked fine. I thought that I had already updated but when I checked again I hadn't. Hopefully thats all it is for you too.

I agree the civics are a little unbalanced. They seem to get worse rather then better, especially the +1 unit cost. I feel like the civics should help you as they get further in the tech tree, with a few that are either/or choices of which one is better based on your style of gameplay or current needs. For example, one helps build units, while one increases science. Neither one hurts you, but they benefit you in different ways.

Chumpy56, thanks for your advice.

I've been reviewing some of the patch advice and I'm still trying to figure out if it's neccessary to install 3.13 to Civ 4 'Gold'. I have that, then added BtS, then RoM 1.0. I thought I saw 3.3 on the screen for BtS and assumed it was version 3.3 which I now think doesn't exist? Me thinks I have a confusion issue with thy patches. I was so stuck on Civ 3/Rise n' Rule that all this Civ 4/Warlords/BtS/RoM has my in a feeding frenzy, with a 2-week learning curve:p.

I'm off work all of next week to try to gain on some of the others here (ha!).
Merry Christmas to all - now let's kick some ___ this week!

Sorry for my confusion - you're all great help! I want to get RoM up and running for my holiday break.

So is this the correct install proceedure?:

1) Civ 4 Gold (w/Warlords); (I own)
2) BtS (I own)
3) Official 3.13 (to download)
4) unoficial 3.13 (to download)
5) RoM 1.0 (was downloaded, need to re-install?)

I missed several years between civ3 and civ4. My ignorance was bliss, until now! If this works, I'm promoting myself to Col.

I can tell you that me and my buddies don't use the unofficial patch 3.13 and ROM works fine for us, so based on that I would say its optional...

Yes that is the correct order.

Raider62

I use the Unofficial Patch with RoM and IMHO it Is essential. Not essential for RoM to work, essential to fix 3.13's shortcomings on fixing many bugs left in BtS.

And it doesn't have any conflicts with RoM .

Plus if you've added the addon that zappara posted it includes Bhruic's UOP 3.13.

JosEPh ;)

Does anyone actually play this online? If so, I going to try to consistently set up rise of mankind games for the next week. Personally, I do it because the computers are idiots who dont understand how to use the stuff right.:)

Thanks Chumpy, Raider, Joseph! Installed Ofc 3.13 and now it works. (I left unofc 3.13 uninstalled as of yet).

Phenominal MOD. I toyed around as Churchill last night on 'marithon' speed which is exactly the pace I enjoyed w/ RaR Civ3. It allows me to develope a good early civ, instead of racing into the A.D.'s.

Several problems w/audio voice on some newly discovered techs - but I think I'm going to turn it off anyway (sorry Leonard:sad: ).

These new 'civics' is vastly different than the 'governments' approach of yore, and I'm struggling to figure out how to use them, or what to use. Has anyone made a spreadsheet on this yet? Or a sticky? When playing RaR I nailed it down quickly. The new civics adds a new level of complexity which will take time to get a handle on.

Anyway, even on 4 hrs sleep I feel pretty good about myself, so a self-promotion is in order.

Thanks y'all, Col. Mussbu
