[BtS] Wolfshanze's Revolution

nudden, did you try this:

you can save while the demand is being made, and the game will load up with the demand being the first thing you see.

Yeah, tried it in my last save in some posts above, but it doesn't work either. Gandhi didn't make the demand again....exasperating:sad:

Hey all, this is just to say thanks for such a great mod!

I've been playing WolfRev for about 3 weeks now and it has sucked me back into CivIV with a vengeance...

In my very first game I saw the "Fall of Rome", the coolest thing I've ever seen in a game of Civ. I was playing as Kublai Khan of the Mongols and had the Americans, French, and Austrians as my neighbors on my little continent. I managed to capture Washington and eventually wipe-out the Americans and French. So I'm just cruising on my island with Francis (Austrians) and I had a big lead on him in points. I had about 6 cities and Francis had only 3. We were buds though because we shared the same religion and I knew that I couldn't afford to capture his cities, the maintenance probably would've sunk me at that point.
So around 1000AD I discover there's another, much larger, continent linked to mine (on Francis's side) through a samll chain of islands. Who should be on the other continent but almighty Ceasar himself! Augustus had already destroyed the Zulu, Greek, Indian, and Aztec civilizations and had the Russians down to only 1 city! The Roman empire was 14 cities! I had only 6! Augustus had an almost 3x point lead on me, and I was #2 at the time. I thought, "Boy is this going to be ugly. I'm gonna get creamed."
Just about that time I start seeing notices of Greek uprisings in Roman cities and a few turns later Ceasar is in the fight of his life against hordes of angry Greeks! It was absolutely awesome. Rome, in my game of civ, fell almost exactly like the real Rome fell (in real life it was to barbarians, not Greeks). Ceasar had expanded too far due to overzealous Legions and he paid the price for it when his empire became too big to manage! Mussolini even stepped in to take the reins for awhile but he couldn't do any better.

Basically, this mod experience was pure poetry. Fantastic. Never have I had a more realistic experience while playing Civ. thanks again!

You know, I've seen this diplomacy error too. Only once though as far as I remember, and I think I was able to simply use the escape key to bypass it. Not positive, but I know that I was able to keep playing...

Doh, I'm having the diplo issues as well. There are times a leader will contact me but all demands and options are missing as well as the diplo lock when there are options available and clicking available options does nothing. Great mod and thanks for the hard work in advance.

The options being blank is definatly solved with 1.2.2, make sure you delete your old WolfRev version (The folder is in ...BtS/Mods), then update. If you get a diplo bug after upgrading to 1.2.2, please upload the save so I can check it out.

And, Merry Christmas everyone.

If you downloaded it after Dec 19th, it was 1.2.2, before it was not. Other then that, not really an easy way to tell, unless you are getting blank diplo demands (In which case it was 1.2.1).

I need your help fixing a problem I am having with this Mod. I installed the Mod and loaded uploaded the Mod, but once I got to the title screen I could not access the encyclopedia. But, I was able to build a custom game. However, once the game loaded only the terrain and the units were visible. There was no other information on the screen, such as information about the unit, terrain and no advisor, religion, military or other buttons in the bottom left.
I am new to this Mod and am looking forward to playing it. I appreciate any help you can give me.

Sounds like you have BUG installed in custom assets. Check your custom assets and move everything in it to it's own proper mod folder. Using custom assets isn't only a problem with WolfRev, having things in your custom assets (especially the BUG mod) can cause problems, and outright crashes with many mods.

Thank you for your quick reply. I tried following your directions and moved everything from BTS/custom assets folder into the WolfRev folder, and it still did not work. Then I tried deleting Civ4, Warlord and BTw's custom assets folder. That did not work. And it seems that the custom assets folder was repopulated with the same folders I deleted. I am lost. I am sorry to trouble you. Thank you for all your help again!

Oh, no, I didn't mean move your custom assets to the ...BTS/Mods/WolfRevolution folder, I meant move everything from custom assets to the ....BTS/Mods folder. If you put the things into the WolfRev folder, it'll still cause problems. Basically if you start using mods, not only WolfRev you need to stop using custom assets, and instead change your custom changes into it's own proper mod (Create a new folder in the ...BTS/Mods folder and place your custom changes in there, your mod will be named whatever you name that folder). The reason custom assets can screw up mods should be obvious once you become aware of it, basically the game will load the custom assets changes which may conflict (almost always does when it comes to the BUG mod), with the changes in a mod. Hope that helps.

I moved everything in my custom assets file to the MOD file. But, I still have the same problem. Also, I don't have an any custom assets. I have never modified BTS. I just have the custom assets folder with subfolders and no files in the subfolders. I have recently downloaded only one other mod. But that is all. I am sorry to keep troubling you. I really am. I am just really excited about this Mod. I don't want to keep annoying you so is there some forum I can read to try and figure out why this Mod doesn't work.

It's not bother at all. I'd like to help you and get it to work, and I'd like to be made aware of any bugs in the mod. The problem is, what you are describing, having no interface, only has two causes I am aware of. 1)The WolfRev mod could be in a missnamed folder (User renames the WolfRevolution folder for some reason), or 2) The BUG mod is installed in custom assets. Possibly not being patched to 3.17 could also cause this (though I'd more expect it to CTD). So unfortunately I can't help you, I have no idea what could be causing this. My only advice would be to uninstall, then reinstall BTS and the 3.17 patch, and then reinstall WolfRevolution. Sorry I can't be of more help here, but I have no idea what could be causing your issue.

Hi Phungus, reinstalled everything new but I still have this annoying diplobug. The next annoying thing is that I can make a savegame at the point the bug happens but when I load it again the demand of the AI isn't been made again.
Sorry I can't track down this diplo bug either. Though if you can save when this happens then start up the game from the save, at least you can continue your game, so it's not totally game breaking, but it does sound annoying. I wish you could save this occuring, so I could reproduce it though. At least that way I could get a log of what could be causing this to report in the BUG forums.

Wolfshanze should be releasing Wolfshanze 2.86 soon, last I heard was to expect it around Christmas, so hopefully the upcoming 1.3.0 build will fix these two issues.

In the meantime, you could try running WolfRevolution 1.1.2 This build had virtually no bugs reported in it. The incorporation of BUG is a little more primitive, and the BetterAI version isn't as up to date, but if 1.2.2 isn't working for you, this build should, and for all practical purposes it is just as good as 1.2.2 (just not as up to date).

Hopefully this hasn't already been asked a million times, but...
Can fighters and bombers no longer bomb tile improvements? I see that they have the option to do so, but every time I've tried, the improvement is NEVER destroyed.

Is this one of the things that has to be turned on in the DCM stuff?

Thanks!

That should totally still exist, that's all handled in the XML, if it is messing up, I don't understand how. Do you have DCM options enabled?

I am having the problem with WolfRevolution as the above poster in not being able to access the civlopedia (or even options screen) after loading the mod. It's a fresh installation of BTS off STEAM and I installed WolfRevolution using the installation EXE which automatically installed WolfRevolution to the C:\STEAM\BLAH BLAH\CIV\BTS\MODS\WolfRevolution\ , and not My Documents\my games\bts\mods (is that right?). My first attempt with loading a map also resulted in a CTD but that might be because it was an incompatible scenario.

I have nothing in the custom assets folder except pre-generated empty folders.

A quick glance at the readme in the WolfRevolution doc directory reveals this;

"This mod should be placed in (civ install directory)\Beyond The Sword\Mods\Revolution\"

I'm going to manually rename and give it a try.

Edit; nope. Same problem. Clicking civlopedia on the main menu screen induces a very quick flash. No such flash clicking options in the advanced menu.

Nope, DCM not enabled. But even when I tried enabling them (and specifically air bombing enabled) it still didn't let me bomb tiles and even removed the option from the unit's action buttons.

I've made some of my own changes, specifically, increasing research time, eliminating global warming, eliminating the experience point cap for promoted units, and eliminating the cap on missionaries and executives. However, I don't think any of those changes would mess with the air bombing function of planes.

I'll attach a saved game, but if the problem's in xml, I don't know if you'll see the same issues.
