I don't know if it's old news or what, but the latest build (3.0, build 5160) of Parallels Desktop seems to be able to run the windows version of Civ4 BTS. Haven't played a whole game on it yet, but so far so good..

I have a new 24" 2.4Ghz iMac.

Welcome :wavey:

I think that's very interesting news! I did see one previous report that Civ4 would run in Parallels, but it was an isolated post in the Parallels forums, and I was never able to get any confirmation.

The fact that you are able to play it is impressive. I've more or less given up on Parallels and switched to VMWare for my occasional Windows needs, but now I may wake Parallels up again and look for a copy of Civ4+BTS to try out.

Just tried it with the latest Parallels build on a C2D MBP (not the latest model, the previous one with an ATI card) and BTS just crashes to desktop everytime I load.

Did you enable DirectX? It wasn't enabled by default for me. Also I had to update the parallels tools in windows, after I updated to the 5160 build, before it started working.

I've been playing for a while now, and I have to say, that graphics become annoyingly slow later in the game. Also some graphics are not displayed properly, like some leaders faces. Nothing to stop me playing though :)

Yeah, it works now I've updated Parallels Tools (if you have autorun off then PT won't be automatically installed) but it's dog slow on all but the lowest of graphical settings, most likely because Parallels chews up a lot of system resources anyway.

When you have a lower Parallels version(2.5) and then you run the system requirements will everything in the video card category are marked as fail? Because I pass everything else including the DirectX
